Casper Ruud will meet Lorenzo Musetti in the Semi-Finals of the 2023 Swedish Open. The match will be played on Saturday July 22nd, 2023. 

World number four Casper Ruud is the heavy favorite to go all the way here at the 2023 Swedish Open and has been playing like it so far. The top seed defeated Sebastian Ofner 6-3, 6-4 in the Quarter-Finals, hardly being tested and breaking once in each set. His all-around game, elite movement and mental game make him extremely difficult to beat on the clay, and he tends to find his best tennis during the clay-court 250’s. 

Lorenzo Musetti is the third seed here at the 2023 Swedish Open and is ranked 16th on the ATP Tour. The Italian is one of the most exciting young players in the world and has had a great year so far in 2023. He was surprisingly pushed to the limit by Filip Misolic in the Quarter-Finals, dropping the first set before rebounding to win 4-6, 6-1, 6-2. He never really seemed to be in danger of losing, but he will have to be a lot less wasteful in the Semis against Casper Ruud, who will make him pay for every little mental slip. Musetti has the talent and the game to beat anyone in the world, we will just have to see if he puts it all together tomorrow in the Semi-Finals. 

This should be a great match to watch, full of lots of exciting tennis. However, we have to back Casper Ruud here. The defending champion is known for his dominance of the ATP 250’s, and this is likely to be no exception. He has had a tough year so far, so motivation will be high to get back to winning ways ahead of the hard court swing, building some confidence. Lorenzo Musetti is a serious challenger on all surfaces, especially clay, but Ruud should be too tough for him here, and will reach yet another Final at the Swedish Open.
