Feliciano Lopez will meet Yannick Hanfmann in the Quarter-Finals of the 2023 Mallorca Open. The match will be played on Thursday June 29th, 2023. 

Wild Card Feliciano Lopez is playing his last ever tournament on the ATP Tour before he calls time on his fantastic career. The Spaniard is one of the best grass-court players of his generation, and he has been having a fairytale run through the draw after not having much success in recent seasons. Defeating Max Purcell and Jordan Thompson en route to the Quarter-Finals, he will feel that he has enough experience to get past the impressive Yannick Hanfmann. There is not much to his game these days other than a huge serve and volley, but that is a huge weapon on this surface and he will be giving it his all to get the win here. 

Yannick Hanfmann is unseeded here at the 2023 Mallorca Open and is ranked at a career-high 48th in the world. The German stunned top seed Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 for the first top 5 win of his career, and he has been having a breakout season of sorts. Grass is not his preferred surface, but he is younger and fresher than Feliciano Lopez and is the favorite heading into this match. He will have to serve very well here however, as he is not likely to get many looks on the Lopez serve. 

This will be must-watch tv, as every Spaniard will be tuned in to see if this will be the last match of Feliciano Lopez’s career. He has really rolled back the years here, and I do think that this fairytale will continue at least for one more match. Hanfmann defeating Tsitsipas really opened up the draw for the Spaniard, and I think he will take full advantage, provided he is fit and ready to go. Even in his forties, his serve is one of the best on this surface and is near unreturnable on a good day. Expect it to go the distance, but the crowd and his heart should will Lopez to victory, propelling him into the Semi-Finals here at the 2023 Mallorca Open.
