Francisco Cerundolo is the fourth seed here at the 2023 Lyon Open and is ranked 28th in the world. The Argentine has been in incredible form here this week, most notably destroying the second seeded Cameron Norrie in the Semi-Finals. Being more aggressive than usual, he struck 2 aces and 23 winners, breaking Norrie five times. He is the favorite here against the relatively unknown Arthur Fils, but should be very wary of the youngster's performances this week.
Arthur Fils is unseeded here at the Lyon Open and is in the form of his life. The 18 year old sensation has defied the odds here at home, playing some amazing tennis. He did have quite a bit of help to get this far with Mikael Ymer being defaulted and Auger-Aliassime withdrawing, but that shouldn't diminish his achievement. He had a battle with Brandon Nakashima in the Semis, pulling out the win in an exhausting match. Hopefully he has something left in the tank ahead of a tough Final against Francisco Cerundolo.
I am expecting a very entertaining match here, with Francisco Cerundolo being the heavy favorite but the young Fils having the support from his home crowd. All things considered, Cerundolo should win this match rather comfortably. He is much more experienced at this level, and Fils must be exhausted from his Semi-Final win. It'll be a great match, but I'm backing the Argentine to win this one in straight sets.
