Francisco Cerundolo will meet Mackenzie McDonald in the Semi-Finals of the 2023 Eastbourne International. The match will be played on Friday June 30th, 2023. 

Francisco Cerundolo is the fourth seed here at the 2023 Eastbourne International and is ranked 19th on the ATP Tour. The Argentine is into his first ever ATP Semi-Final on grass, and hs the favorite to reach the Final over Mackenzie McDonald. He defeated Zhang in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3 in an hour, controlling play well from the baseline and showing an aggressive side of his game. While he does not have a powerful serve which is a big weapon on grass, he utilizes it well, and is able to gain an advantage when starting the points. 

Mackenzie McDonald is unseeded here at Eastbourne and is ranked 64th in the world. The American is also through to his first ever grass-court Semi-Final and will be liking his chances of reaching the Final after some impressive displays this week, most notably upsetting the top seeded Taylor Fritz in the Round of 16. He has had some success on grass before, reaching the Round of 16 at Wimbledon a few years ago and was impressive in his three set win over Mikael Ymer. Like his opponent Francisco Cerundolo he does not have a big serve, but is deceptively powerful from the baseline. 

Despite the gulf between their rankings, this is truly a toss-up. Francisco Cerundolo is arguably the better player, certainly the more consistent, but McDonald has had more success on grass before, with this being the first time that the Argentine has even won consecutive matches. However, I am giving Cerundolo the edge here. He has not let his lack of firepower slow him down this week, and has mixed his game up well, slicing and coming into the net to put off his opponents. That, coupled with his experience should be enough to lead him to victory here at the 2023 Eastbourne International.
