Holger Rune will meet Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the Third Round of the 2023 Wimbledon Championships. The match will be played on Saturday July 8th, 2023.

Holger Rune is the 6th seed here at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships and is ranked 6th on the ATP Tour. The young star has looked good during his transition to the grass courts, and his sheer talent alone makes him very difficult to beat. He defeated Roberto Carballes Baena convincingly in straight sets to reach this point, hitting 47 winners in an aggressive performance. However, he committed 45 unforced errors, a worrying number that his next opponent, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina will likely take advantage of. 

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina is seeded 31st here at Wimbledon and is ranked 34th in the world. The Spaniard is a former Junior Finalist here at the All-England Club, and is comfortable on this surface. Faced with a tricky Second Round match against Botic van de Zandschulp, he was able to win 6-1, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 in a solid performance, showing his full array of shots throughout. He is the underdog here against Holger Rune but is very capable of the upset if the young Dane is wasteful again. 

This should be one of the more entertaining matches so far here at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships between two of the most exciting players on the Tour. Davidovich Fokina is much more experienced on this surface but does not have the sheer talent and firepower of Holger Rune. I think it will be a battle, but the youngster tends to find ways to win matches, even when not playing at his best. Both men will win a set, but give me Rune to win here, moving on to the Round of 16.
