Jannik Sinner will meet Diego Schwartzman in the Second Round of the 2023 Wimbledon Championships. The match will be played on Wednesday July 5th, 2023. 

Jannik Sinner is the 8th seed here at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships and is ranked 8th on the ATP Tour. The Italian had a strong showing here last year, pushing eventual champion Novak Djokovic to the bring before succumbing in five sets. He is one of the dark horse candidates to win the title here, and started his campaign strongly, defeating Juan Manuel Cerundolo 6-2, 6-2, 6-2, totally dominating the match with his serve and huge groundstrokes. He is the big favorite to continue that streak against the veteran Diego Schwartzman, and will be liking his chances of advancing. 

Diego Schwartzman is unseeded here at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships and is ranked 98th in the world. After a miserable past few seasons due to loss of form and injury, the Argentine is attempting to climb the rankings again, but this is far from his favored surface. Like his opponent Jannik Sinner, he was hugely impressive in his First Round win, dismantling Miomir Kecmanovic 6-0, 6-3, 6-4 in a stunning display. He does not have any major weapons which severely limits him on this quicker surface, however his grit and fighting spirit make him a tough opponent. 

This should be a comfortable victory for Jannik Sinner, for the simple reason that he has far more firepower than his opponent, and is more comfortable on this surface. Diego Schwartzman looked good in his opener, but he is not a grass court player, and his lack of a big serve will hurt him here. Sinner should have no problem dominating this match from the baseline and will win comfortably here. I’d even be comfortable betting the straight sets market for a little more profit.
