Novak Djokovic will meet Casper Ruud in the Final of the 2023 French Open. The match will be played on Sunday June 11th, 2023 at 9:00am EST. 

Third seeded Novak Djokovic is chasing history here at the 2023 French Open as he is just one win away from breaking Rafael Nadal’s Grand Slam record, with a chance to win his 23rd. The overwhelming favorite produced a masterclass to win the Semi-Final over Carlos Alcaraz, with the Spaniard suffering badly with cramps towards the end. Many have written this match off as a guaranteed win for the Serbian over Casper Ruud, the 2022 Finalist. His counterpunching game style and elite will to win make him almost impossible to defeat so deep in tournaments, and he is heavily favored here. 

Casper Ruud, the fourth seed is attempting to play spoiler here at Roland Garros to win his first Grand Slam title, as well prevent Novak Djokovic from breaking the record. Like Djokovic, he payed flawless tennis to crush Alexander Zverev in the Semi-Finals, taking the match 6-3, 6-4, 6-0 in one of the matches of his life. Ruud has consistently been one of the best clay court players in the world over the past few seasons, but will he have enough to deny the surging Djokovic? 

As much as I like Casper Ruud’s game, I don’t see any path to victory for the Dane. Novak Djokovic has been nearly unbeatable in these situations, and the desire to break the record at Nadal’s playground in Roland Garros is the icing on the cake. Casper Ruud is a fighter and will keep it as close he can, but expect Djokovic to pull away and win Grand Slam title twenty three here at the 2023 French Open.
