US Open: Aslan Karatsev vs. Jenson Brooksby 9/4/21 Tennis Prediction

Aslan Karatsev meets Jenson Brooksby in the third round of the 2021 US Open on Saturday, September 4th 2021. Who will make their way into the fourth round?

Will it be the wildcard American, Jenson Brooksby, to show us that he should not be discounted as one of the best players in American tennis in the next few years, or will Aslan Karatsev show us the tennis which we all fell in love with when he first burst onto the scene this year at the Australian Open?

Jenson Brooksby showed everyone that he has the game in the second round, beating his fellow American, Taylor Fritz, who is much more experienced and is one of the best American players out there, in 4 sets 6-7/7-6/7-5/6-2. Jenson will know that he needs to keep this going because it will allow him to continue putting himself in a strong position to get into the NextGen Finals and making a name for himself as one of the stars of the future of tennis in the ATP Tour. Can the young American get another big win?

Aslan Karatsev knows he has escaped an early exit here at the US Open after having fought his way back from 2 sets down in the second round against the Australian Jordan Thompson, going on to win the match in 5 sets 3-6/3-6/7-5/7-6/6-1. Aslan has not been at his best in recent months, having peaked in the first half of the year. However, he knows that in these hot hard court conditions he should be able to play at his best. Aslan will want to show everyone that he was not a one-season wonder and get himself further in the US Open.

This is going to be the 2^nd meeting between both players, with Aslan Karatsev having won their only prior encounter. Aslan dominated in their prior match this year, and although he did that, I don’t expect a dominant win here, but more of a tight 5-set win. Jenson has made strides in his game in the ATP Tour and he will bring the fight to the Russian. However, Aslan is still a much better player at his best and I think he will find an extra level after having made that great comeback.
