US Open Tennis: Novak Djokovic vs Alexander Zverev 9/10/21 Prediction

Novak Djokovic vs Alexander Zverev
September 10, 2021 7:00 pm EDT

World number one and top seeded Serbian Novak Djokovic will face the fourth seed Alexander Zverev of Germany in the Semi-Finals of the 2021 US Open. The match is scheduled to be played tonight at 7:00pm EST. A thrilling battle is expected as Djokovic and Zverev battle for a spot in the 2021 US Open Final. This will be the fourth time they are playing each other this year, and each time it has been a close and fantastic match.

Djokovic is out for history here as he is two matches away from winning his record-breaking 21st Grand Slam title as well as the calendar year Grand Slam. Zverev is seeking to win his first Major title after heartbreakingly losing the Final last year to Dominic Thiem. Who will get the win here and advance to Sunday’s Final?

Novak Djokovic is the world number one and is seeded #1 here at the 2021 US Open. The Serbian superstar has been in great form so far here in New York and seems fully locked in as he chases history. He lost the first set in the Quarter-Finals against Matteo Berrettini but impressively fought back to win in four sets, improving as the match went along. While he is chasing history here he is also out for revenge over Alexander Zverev, who ended his hopes of the Golden Slam by knocking the Serbian out in the Olympic Semi-Finals. Zverev has been in fine form recently and Djokovic will have to be at his best to get the win, but this is what he lives for and he always raises his game in moments like this. Expect a battle but Djokovic is the favorite to advance to yet another US Open Final.

Alexander Zverev is the fourth seed here at the 2021 US Open and is ranked #4 on the ATP Tour. The German is in fine form at the moment, and has only lost one set en route to the Semi-Finals. He has been serving extremely well, and that is something that he will have to do against Novak Djokovic here if he is to cause the upset. He has beaten the world number one three times before, but the Serbian always raises his game at the majors and will be extremely difficult to beat here. Zverev had some nervy moments against Lloyd Harris in the Quarters, and was perhaps lucky to win the first set after the South African served for it. However he showed remarkable poise during the tense moments to come away with the tough three set win. While he is the underdog, he knows that he can win here if he plays his best and will have taken a lot of confidence from winning the Olympic Gold Medal and defeating Djokovic in the process. If he is able to serve well and be more aggressive than usual he certainly has a chance here.

I am expecting a huge battle here, with Zverev becoming a much more mature and patient player in recent times. Djokovic is the obvious favorite and will be highly motivated to win this tournament but Zverev has looked fantastic and is out to win the title that slipped from his grasp last year. I am expecting a five set thriller with some amazing tennis, but when it comes down to it in the key moments, there is only one person that can be trusted to always hold his nerve and that is Novak Djokovic. He is unbelievable under pressure, and should be able to squeeze out a win here. If Zverev serves well and attacks consistently from the baseline he can keep this extremely close, but the smart money is on the Serbian, who will win here and advance to the Final of the 2021 US Open.
