The Wright State Raiders and the Indiana Hoosiers meet Thursday in college basketball action from Bloomington Assembly Hall. Wright State is fresh off a matchup versus Toledo. In that one the 0-2 Raiders took a one-point loss. As for Indiana, they’re sitting at 2-0 on the season after a win over Army on Sunday. Wright State Raiders 

The Raiders kicked off their season with a matchup versus Colorado State. Wright State shot well in that one (50 percent from the floor) but allowed the Rams to shoot even better (63.6 percent from the floor) in a 105-77 loss. The Raiders were fairly competitive on the boards with a 31-27 deficit, but also coughed up 15 turnovers in the defeat. 

On Tuesday versus Toledo, the Raiders were down 41-40 going into the second half and ultimately came up with a rough loss 78-77. Leading the team’s scoring was Trey Calvin on 22 points and four assists. AJ Braun had a solid line as well with 16 points, seven rebounds and three assists. 

Indiana Hoosiers 

Over on the Indiana side, they played Florida Gulf Coast in Bloomington during their opener this year. The Hoosiers played it a bit too close for comfort most of the game, but still came away with the win 69-63. Indiana shot well with 51.1 percent from the floor, but also hit a middling 19-of-30 (63.3 percent) from the line and got out-rebounded 13-7 on the offensive glass. 

Game two against Army was another pretty close outcome for the Hoosiers. Indiana held a 32-31 edge at the break and eventually powered out the win 72-64. Kel’el Ware led the way on 20 options with six rebounds, and Xavier Johnson added 19 points with five assists. Malik Reneau also had a solid outing with 14 points, seven rebounds and five assists. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’m going to lean toward Indiana, but I’m not touching this one. The Hoosiers haven’t exactly been dominant so far, even against the pair of less-noteworthy teams they’ve faced. Indiana played a sloppy game against Army with 18 turnovers and a 11-5 deficit in offensive rebounding (an area the Hoosiers have struggled in so far). The good news is that the Hoosiers shot well (58.1 percent) and hit 18 of their 22 free throws. 

As for Wright State, you could make a case for them to cover here as well. Indiana has started slowly in both of their games so far; a few early baskets could put the Raiders in a nice spot at the break. Ultimately I think Indiana will eke out the cover, but it’s probably not one to mess with.
