The Dallas Wings and Phoenix Mercury face off on Friday in a WNBA showdown at the College Park Center. When these two teams faced off on May 19th it was the Wings that secured the 94-84 victory.

The Wings come into this game with a 6-8 record overall, and they have lost four games in a row. In the last game against the Las Vegas Aces, the defense really struggled, giving up 92 points and that led to the defeat. Three games ago against the Seattle Storm, the offense scored 88 points, but their defense gave up 89 points. Dallas is averaging 81.1 points, while their defense is giving up 81.7 points per game. The offense is ranked 6th, while their defense is ranked 7th. Arike Ogunbowale has been the top player for the Wings, averaging 18.7 points while shooting 38.3 percent from the field.

On the other side of this matchup is the Phoenix Mercury who sits with a 6-9 record overall and in the last game against the Indiana Fever, the offense scored 93 points and that led to the 13-point victory. Two games ago against the Washington Mystics, the offense only 65 points and that led to the 18 point defeat. The Mercury are averaging 81.7 points, while their defense is giving up 85.8 points per game. The offense is ranked 5th best in the WNBA, while the defense is ranked 10th. Skylar Diggins-Smith has been the top player for the Mercury, averaging 18.1 points while shooting 45.5 percent from the field and 31.0 percent from behind the three point line.

The Mercury looked better in the last game, but they still don’t have the defense to slow down the Wings in this game. I expect Dallas is going to run up the score and that is going to be the difference as Dallas gets the job done. Dallas scored 94 the last time they faced off against Phoenix, and they will score at least that here.
