France vs. Serbia
August 7, 2021 3:00 am EDT
Serbia and France face off on Saturday in a women’s basketball showdown in the bronze medal game. Both of these teams have found success during the Olympics, but going home without a medal would be quite disappointing.
Serbia found a lot of success during the Olympics, but during the semifinals, they ran into the train that is the United States. Serbia only scored 59 points in the last game and that led to a 20 point defeat. Two games ago against China, Serbia scored 77 points and in this game, the offense is going to need to be good in this game. In that game against the United States, Serbia couldn’t get the offensive production going. None of the starters scored more than six points, and one starter was shut out. Yvonne Anderson was the best player for Serbia finishing with 15 points/ In this game, Serbia is going to go need to the offense to be better, and they need more production, especially from the starters.
On the other side of this matchup is France who faced off with Japan in the semifinals and their defense really let them down. France gave up 87 points to Japan and that led to the 16 point defeat. Sandrine Gruda was the best player for France in the last game finishing with 18 points and three rebounds. Marine Fauthoux was also a strong player off the bench finishing with 13 points and 1 block. This is a France team that has found a whole lot of success with their scoring, but their defense at times has been a big issue, and they are going to need the defense to be better.
France is the better offensive team, and they are going to have very little issue winning this game. Look for France to run up the score, Serbia will have no answer, and France will cover this spread.
