Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors return home for Game 3 against the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night.
Head to head, the Clippers are 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Golden State while the home team is 7-2 ATS in the last 9 meetings. The Warriors are 11-1 ATS in their last 12 Conference Quarterfinals games, 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 33-16-2 ATS in their last 51 games following a S.U. loss. The Clippers on the other hand are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games, but just 1-6 ATS in their last 7 Conference Quarterfinals games.
While losing by 40 points in a playoff game is never a good thing, I'm not too worried about the Golden State Warriors. Afterall, they did take Game 1, so essentially they got what they wanted out of the first two games of this series. I was foolish enough to take the Warriors and the points in their 138-98 defeat on Monday night, but I should have seen it coming. The Los Angeles Clippers were up against the wall and did what most teams would do when facing the proposition of going 0-2 on their home court, and that's come out all guns blazing.
So what should we expect for tonight's showdown? Well, I expect the Warriors to bounce back in a big way, infront of what could be the best crowd in the entire NBA. Now I don't mean that they will win in a big way, but I can see them pulling through in a close one. You have to remember that the home team has won eight of the last 10 meetings and that the Warriors have won four straight over the Clipps at home by an average of 12 points per contest.
Also, expect Curry to have a breakout game tonight, after two quiet performance in the opening couple of games. Curry loves playing at home, just flash back to their series against Denver last season. This is a coin toss when it comes down to it, but I think GSW get it done on their home court..
