The Los Angeles Angels and the Texas Rangers meet in an NL West division matchup in MLB action from Globe Life Field on Monday night.

The Los Angeles Angels will look to rebound from an 8-3 loss at the hands of the Oakland A’s on Sunday. Max Stassi had a two-run home run while Jack Mayfield added a double and an RBI to make up the scoring for the Angels in the loss. Adam Eaton and David Fletcher each had a base hit to make up the offense for Los Angeles in the loss as the Angels mustered up just five hits as a team in the loss. Reid Detmers took the loss, falling to 0-1 after allowing six runs on six hits with a pair of strikeouts over 4.1 innings of work. The Angels did not have a starting pitcher announced at the time that this article was posted.

The Texas Rangers will look to build on their 4-3 win over the Seattle Mariners in Sunday’s series finale. Andy Ibanez went 2 for 4 with a two-run home run while Jonah Heim hit a solo shot. David Dahl had an RBI as well to make up the rest of the scoring for the Rangers in the win. Charlie Culberson had three hits while Jose Trevino had a double. Nate Lowe and Isiah Kiner-Falefa each had a base hit as well to cap off Texas’ offense as a team in the win. Mike Foltynewicz allowed two runs on three hits over five innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Dennis Santana got the win in relief to improve to 1-1 on the year as a result. Dane Dunning will start here and is 4-7 with a 4.20 ERA and 90 strikeouts this season

Los Angeles is 1-6 in their last 7 division games and 6-0 in their last 6 games against a team with a winning percentage below .400 while the under is 8-0 in their last 8 road games. 16-40 in their last 56 games overall and 3-9 in their last 12 Monday games while the over is 22-7 in their last 29 series-opening games.

I get the case that could be made for the Rangers at home because Dunning is a much better pitcher than his record indicates, he’s just had a bad run of luck and hasn’t had enough support to get him through. However, I’m still selling the Rangers as much as I can as this team has pretty much mailed it in after trading away guys like Kyle Gibson and Joey Gallo at the deadline. I think the Angels are just in a position with more to play for and take this one more seriously. Give me Los Angeles here.
