The Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions meet Sunday in NFL action from Ford Field in Detroit. Here’s a Lions vs Packers prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Lions vs Packers pick.

Green Bay Packers Betting Preview

Green Bay has had their ups and downs already this season. The Packers started out on a 1-2 run with a win over the New York Jets in between losses to the Minnesota Vikings and the Atlanta Falcons. Green Bay responded with wins over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Chicago Bears in the next pair though, resulting in a 3-2 record over the first five outings.

On Sunday night versus the Cowboys, the Packers were looking very good in the first half, posting a couple of touchdowns on the way to a 17-0 halftime lead. After a couple more field goals Green Bay eventually closed out with a 23-13 win. QB Jordan Love was 23-of-41 for 276 yards, one TD and one pick. Matthew Golden caught six balls for 104 yards and a score.

Detroit Lions Betting Preview

Over on the Detroit side, they’ve been a mixed bag as well this year. The Lions opened up the year at 2-1 with a loss to the Buffalo Bills in between wins versus the New Orleans Saints and the New York Jets. Back on October 11 versus the Cardinals, the Lions were down early but then rattled off three second-quarter touchdowns for a 24-7 lead. Detroit kept the pressure up in the second half and walked away with a road win 45-21 in the end. QB Jared Goff was 19-of-30 for 271 yards and three scores. Jahmyr Gibbs had 25 carries for 151 yards and two touchdowns.

Lions vs Packers Prediction

I’ll lean toward the Packers but I could go either way. Green Bay emerged victorious in a sloppy game last Sunday night. The Pack committed 11 of the game’s 22 penalties for 96 yards but made up for it with a very nice 11-of-18 effort on third downs and 318 total yards on offense. Green Bay put up just 57 rush yards on 26 attempts, but to be fair Dallas wasn’t running the ball either (48 rush yards on just 15 attempts). Over these last three games (all wins), Green Bay has held opponents to 14 points or fewer in each outing.

As for Detroit, they didn’t have too much issue with a struggling Cardinals team in their last outing, notching 24 first downs and 412 total yards. The Lions could have been better on thirds (4-of-13) but overall they played pretty well. Detroit has scored 26 or more points in all five games this year so this one could turn into a shootout.
