The Davidson Wildcats and the Fordham Rams meet Saturday in college basketball action from Rose Hill Gym. Davidson is 15-2 on the season thus far. The Wildcats are coming off a win over VCU. Davidson hit a spotty 1-2 start this year with losses to San Francisco and New Mexico State. The Wildcats have hit a nice 14-game win streak since then. They’ve beaten Saint Joseph’s, Rhode Island, UMass, Richmond and VCU this calendar year so far.
In the Tuesday game versus VCU, the Wildcats managed a 36-28 lead at halftime. Davidson had to hang on for the wild 63-61 win, though. Luka Brajkovic topped the team on 19 points, and Foster Loyer added 14 points and four assists.
Over on the Fordham side, they managed a 7-5 run over their first 12 games. The Rams were only able to play one game between December 12 and January 12, though. Since returning Fordham has a win over Duquesne and losses to Saint Louis and Richmond.
In the Richmond game on Tuesday, the Rams were outscored 37-33 in the first half and 46-37 from there in an 83-70 loss. Leading team scorer Darius Quisenberry finished on 23 points with five rebounds and eight assists in 37 minutes of work.
The Rams are 6-1 ATS in their last seven at home and 6-2 ATS in their last eight overall. The over is 7-3 in Fordham’s last 10 at home.
Meanwhile, the Wildcats are 8-1 ATS in their last nine after an ATS win and 13-3 ATS in their last 16 road games. Davidson is 4-1 ATS in their last five Saturday games.
PICK: I’m probably staying with Davidson here. The Wildcats have had some very close calls during this 14-game win streak, but to their credit the team is taking care of business and finishing off games well. Davidson had also hit 70 points in 13 straight games before the 63 versus VCU.
Fordham has given up 71 or more points in two of their last three so there should be some opportunities for Davidson to jack up the score. I like the Wildcats to come away with a cover in this one and keep the streak going.
