The Seton Hall Pirates and the Baylor Bears meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Ferrell Center. Seton Hall is coming off a win over Northeastern on Wednesday with brought the Pirates to 5-2 overall this year. As for Baylor, they’re undefeated through eight games and beat Northwestern State in a blowout on Saturday. Let’s get into our Seton Hall vs. Baylor prediction. Seton Hall Pirates
The Pirates won four straight games to start the season. In that time Seton Hall took out Saint Peter’s, Fairleigh Dickinson, Albany and Wagner. The next two games were losses however, as the Pirates fell to USC and Iowa. In the 85-72 result versus the Hawkeyes, Seton Hall gave up 56.4 percent shooting from the field while hitting just 36.0 percent themselves.
The Pirates were able to get another victory in their last matchup versus Northeastern. In that one Seton Hall took a 36-29 edge into the break, then finished off with 52 more points in an 88-75 finish. Tops in scoring for the Pirates was Al-Amir Dawes with 25 points, five rebounds and five assists.
Baylor Bears
Over on the Baylor side, it’s been a great run so far with only a couple of close games in their unbeaten streak. The Bears took out Auburn, John Brown, Gardner-Webb, Kansas City, Oregon State, Florida and Nicholls State in their first seven outings. Baylor beat the Colonels 108-70, hitting a stellar 56.7 percent from the field and 60.9 percent (14-of-23) from outside.
Another blowout win was in store for the Bears in their latest matchup versus Northwestern State. Baylor drilled the Demons 40-14 in the first half of that game, then finished off with 51 more points in a 91-40 finish. Leading the way for Baylor was Jalen Bridges on 16 points, eight rebounds and two blocks.
ANDREW’S FREE SETON HALL VS BAYLOR PREDICTION
I may take a stab on a Seton Hall pick here. Probably not touching it, though. The Pirates didn’t have too many issues with Northeastern in their last game, shooting 59.3 percent from the field with 32 rebounds and 16 team assists. That makes 70 or more points in six of seven games for the Pirates this year, but they may have some issues finding buckets against Baylor on Tuesday.
The Bears’ only close wins this year came versus Auburn 88-82 and Florida 95-91; everything else has been a blowout. Baylor has hit 77 or more points in all eight games so far, and 88 or more in seven of them. Seton Hall is going to need a huge push offensively to stay in range, but if the Pirates play to their capabilities I think they can pull off the cover.
