The Merrimack Warriors and the Georgetown Hoyas meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Capital One Arena. Merrimack posted an overtime loss to Alabama State over the weekend, dropping the team to 3-4 overall. As for Georgetown, they’re 4-2 so far following a win over Jackson State on Saturday. Here’s our Merrimack vs Georgetown prediction.
Merrimack Warriors
The Warriors managed to win three of their first five games this year in a decent start, taking out Worcester State, Maine and North Carolina A&T during that stretch. Merrimack lost to Samford in game six however, a 79-71 result. The Warriors were out-rebounded 39-27 by the Bulldogs in that one, coughing up 16 turnovers along the way.
Merrimack lost another one to Alabama State in their most recent game, but this one took overtime to finish. The Warriors were outscored 10-4 in the extra period for a 66-60 result. Tops in scoring was Adam Clark with 12 points, four assists, two steals and two rebounds in the losing effort.

Georgetown Hoyas
Over on the Georgetown side, they got off to a sketchy 1-2 start this year. The losses in that time came versus Holy Cross 68-67 and Rutgers 71-60. The Hoyas have since won three straight however, starting with consecutive wins over Mount St. Mary’s and American. Georgetown got outmuscled on the boards 42-35 in the 88-83 overtime win versus the Eagles.
Matched up against Jackson State on Saturday, Georgetown won another game. The Hoyas were down 40-39 by halftime but got better from there in an 88-81 victory. Leading scorer Jayden Epps had 34 points with four rebounds and four assists. Dontrez Styles had a big game as well with 22 points and five rebounds.
ANDREW’S FREE GEORGETOWN VS MERRIMACK PREDICTION
I’ll probably stay with Georgetown. The Hoyas didn’t play great in their last matchup against Jackson State though, and they’ll need a stronger effort in order to cover here. Georgetown shot a nice 53.7 percent from the field in that one but lost the rebounding battle 43-33 with a 22-10 deficit on the offensive glass.
As for Merrimack, they hit an ice-cold 32.1 percent from the field and 17.2 percent (5-of-29) from 3-point range in their loss to Alabama State. The Warriors rebounded pretty well (42) but also had 18 turnovers. Georgetown is capable of powering out a cover if they play to their capabilities here, but I’m probably not touching it.
