The High Point Panthers and the Georgia Bulldogs meet Saturday in college basketball action from Stegeman Coliseum. High Point is fresh off a win over North Carolina A&T which brought the Panthers to 8-3 overall. As for Georgia, they’ve won four straight, most recently versus Georgia Tech last Tuesday. Let’s get into our High Point vs. Georgia prediction. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
High Point Panthers
The Panthers went on a .500 run over their first six games this year, beating St. Andrews, Iona and Illinois State alongside losses to Wofford, Queens and Hofstra. High Point hit a win streak after that with victories over Mount Olive, Morgan State, North Florida and Western Carolina in the next quartet.
In their latest outing versus North Carolina A&T, the Panthers were able to keep it going with another victory. High Point had a modest three-point lead at halftime, then hit a 41-31 run from there for a 75-62 result. Leading the team in scoring was Duke Miles with 25 points, four assists and three steals.
Georgia Bulldogs
Over on the Bulldogs’ side, they got off to a sketchy 2-3 start this year. The losses in that stretch were against Oregon, Miami and Providence. Georgia bounced back with wins over Winthrop, Florida State and Mercer in the next trio though, posting 52.5 percent shooting in the 80-69 outcome versus the Bears.
Georgia was able to notch another victory in their last matchup versus Georgia Tech on Tuesday. The Bulldogs improved on a 36-20 halftime edge with 40 more points and ended up winning 76-62. Noah Thomasson posted 16 points with five rebounds and three steals in the victory.
ANDREW’S FREE HIGH POINT VS GEORGIA PREDICTION
I’ll take a stab on High Point in this one. You could make a case either way, though. The Panthers posted a pretty solid effort in their latest win over a struggling NC A&T, shooting 54.9 percent from the field with a 33-20 rebounding advantage. High Point has scored very well this year with 72 or more points in every game so far.
As for Georgia, they’ve played pretty well in this four-game win streak with 68 or more points in every outing. The Bulldogs do have a few scoring duds on the schedule so far, but they should be able to post a solid total in this one. I don’t think Georgia will quite finish with a cover pace, though.
