The Fairfield Stags and the Quinnipiac Bobcats meet Friday in college basketball action from TD Bank Sports Center. Here’s a Quinnipiac vs Fairfield prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Quinnipiac vs Fairfield pick.
Fairfield Stags Betting Preview
It’s been a tough year for the Stags so far. They’ve only got a couple of instances of consecutive wins, and a long string of losses otherwise. Fairfield opened the season with a 5-4 stretch with wins over New Hampshire, John Jay, Vermont, Fairleigh Dickinson, and Rider. The losses otherwise were versus Rhode Island, Georgetown, Drexel, and Yale. After losses to Mount St. Mary’s, Central Connecticut, Monmouth, Columbia, and Merrimack in the next five games, the Stags have since gone 3-3. Those wins have come over Iona, Niagara, and Manhattan. Otherwise, it’s been losses to Maris, Canisius, and Merrimack, giving the Stags an overall record of 8-12 through 20 games so far.
The Stags were blitzed pretty bad in the first half of their last game versus Merrimack, going into the locker room with a 47-23 deficit. Fairfield got better in the second half on a 31-28 run but eventually lost 75-54 in blowout fashion. Tops in scoring was Peyton Smith, who was the only player on the team to finish in double-figures with 13 points and seven boards. Louis Bleechmore added eight points with six rebounds and one assist in the defeat.
Quinnipiac Bobcats Betting Preview
Over on the Bobcats’ side, they kicked off the year on a pretty rough run, but they’ve been doing much better since late December or so. Quinnipiac went just 5-7 over their first dozen games, winning over only WPI, Maine, Navy, Rider, and Sacred Heart. The Bobcats lost otherwise to Yale, St. John’s, UMass Lowell, Saint Louis, Stonehill, Holy Cross, and Central Connecticut at that time. Since then Quinnipiac has been much better, posting a 7-1 run over the last eight games. The lone loss in that time was versus Marist. Otherwise, it was wins over Hofstra, Saint Peter’s, Siena, Iona, Merrimack, Mount St. Mary’s, and Rider, giving the Bobcats a 12-8 overall record this year.
In the matchup with Rider on Saturday, the Bobcats held a 42-39 deficit in the first half. Quinnipiac came back strong on a 36-22 run in the second however, eventually winning 75-64. Leading team scorer Amarri Moore posted 19 points with 12 rebounds and three steals. Ryan Mabrey added 12 points and one assist off the bench, while Khaden Bennett doubled up on 11 points, 10 boards, and four assists in 33 minutes of work on the floor.

Quinnipiac vs Fairfield Prediction
I’ll stay with Quinnipiac. The Bobcats started out slowly against a struggling Fairfield team in their last outing, but eventually powered out the victory. Quinnipiac ended up shooting 47.5 percent from the field in that one, holding the Broncs to just 37.9 percent on the other side. The free throw shooting (11-of-19 for 57.9 percent) wasn’t great though, so the Bobcats will need to sharpen up from the line in this one. That said, Quinnipiac is sitting on a five-game win streak scoring 72 or more points in four of those matchups.
As for Fairfield, they posted a pretty meager effort versus Merrimack in their last game. The Stags shot just 33.3 percent from the field and 4-of-22 (18.2 percent) from 3-point range in that one alongside 14 turnovers for 17 Merrimack points. Fairfield isn’t exactly the hottest scoring team in the world this year, but they can notch some decent totals when the matchup is right. They’ve hit 68 or more points in each of their last five wins, but those were few and far between to be fair. Unfortunately—on paper at least—Quinnipiac looks like the stronger team. The Bobcats shouldn’t have a ton of trouble here.
