Kent State Golden Flashes
The Flashes went into February with a 10-11 overall record, then won three of the next four outings. Since then Kent State is a sketchy 2-4 with wins over only Buffalo and Central Michigan. The losses otherwise came versus Ohio, Akron, Ball State and Toledo in that time.
In last Friday’s game versus Toledo, the Golden Flashes had a rough first half with just 26 points. Kent State rallied for 45 more points in the second but still ended up losing by a fairly sizable 86-71 margin. Leading team scorer VonCameron Davis put up 20 points with eight rebounds along the way.
Toledo Rockets
Over on the Toledo side, they went into last month with a 14-7 record then lost two of the next three. Following a 2-2 run with wins over Ohio and Akron before losses to Bowling Green and Northern Illinois, the Rockets have since beaten Buffalo, Miami-OH and Kent State.
In last week’s victory over Kent State, the Rockets didn’t have too many issues scoring. Toledo hit 36 points in the first half and another 50 after the break. Leading the team in points was Ra’Heim Moss with 21 alongside seven assists and five boards. Dante Maddox added 18 points as well.
ANDREW’S FREE KENT STATE VS TOLEDO PREDICTION
I’ll stick with the Rockets here. This matchup is interesting, as we’ve got a very recent game between the two. In last Friday’s victory, Toledo’s offense was humming along nicely with 51.8 percent from the field, 41.7 percent from 3-point range and 81.8 percent (18-of-22) from the line. Outside of that, the total rebounds, assists (17 each) and turnovers (11 each) were very similar for both teams.
Toledo has been scoring very well lately with 85 or more points in three straight games. The Rockets may not quite reach those lofty heights in this rematch, but they should be able to control things if all goes well.
