UC Riverside Highlanders 

The Highlanders lost three of their first four games this year, falling to Utah, Portland and North Carolina in that time. UC Riverside went 2-2 over the next four, beating Green Bay and Bethesda with losses otherwise versus Montana State and UCLA. In the loss to the Bruins, the Highlanders were out-rebounded 31-29 and had 16 turnovers. 

UC Riverside was able to muscle out a win over North Dakota in their latest appearance. The Highlanders took a 31-26 lead into the second half and finished off a 68-62 result. Leading the team in scoring was Isaiah Moses with 17 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.

Washington State Cougars 

Over on the Cougars’ side, they beat Idaho and Prairie View A&M in their first two games this year before a loss to Mississippi State. Washington State got back to their winning ways over Rhode Island, Utah Tech and Eastern Washington in the next three. The Cougars shot a solid 45.3 percent from the field with just seven turnovers versus the Eagles. 

Washington State took a 31-31 tie into the second half of their latest matchup versus Portland State. The Cougars hit a 40-30 run from there in a 71-61 victory. Top scorer Isaac Jones posted a double-double with 27 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks in the winning effort. 

ANDREW’S FREE UC RIVERSIDE VS WASHINGTON STATE PREDICTION 

I’ll stick with Washington State. The Cougars are playing well these days and coming off another solid effort versus Portland State. In that one, Washington State hit 50.9 percent from the field with 43 rebounds, but the 3-point shooting wasn’t there (18.2 percent). Still, the Cougars have scored 71 or more points in every one of their wins this year. 

As for UC Riverside, they hit a tepid 39.4 percent from the field in their win over North Dakota. The rebounding (46-26) saved them, however. The Highlanders have been at 68 points or above in all of their wins this year, so they’ll need a hot scoring effort in order to cover here.
