The Miami Hurricanes and the Florida State Seminoles meet Saturday in college football action from Doak Campbell Stadium. Here’s a Florida State vs Miami prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Florida State vs Miami pick.

Miami Hurricanes Betting Preview

The Hurricanes have completed four games so far this year, taking victories in each one. Miami opened things up with a tricky home matchup against Notre Dame and managed to eke out a 27-24 victory in the end. Game two was nowhere near as close; the Hurricanes powered past Bethune-Cookman 45-3 for their second victory. Likewise with the September 13 matchup versus South Florida as Miami breezed through that one on the way to a 49-12 win. The Hurricanes scored 14 points in three of the four quarters and generated 576 yards on offense (205 rushing). Realistically the only major gripes for Miami in the victory were the nine penalties for 69 yards and the two interceptions thrown.

In their latest matchup versus Florida back on September 20, the Hurricanes were able to power out another win. Miami was up 13-0 by halftime and scored 13 more unanswered points in the fourth quarter on the way to a 26-7 victory. QB Carson Beck logged 17-of-30 passing for 160 yards and an interception while CharMarBrown added four catches for 53 yards. Brown also had 80 rush yards and a pair of scores, but Mark Fletcher was the high man on the ground with 116 yards and a touchdown of his own off 24 carries.

Florida State Seminoles Betting Preview

Over on the Florida State side, they’ve likewise got four games in the books this season. The Seminoles had a tough matchup versus Alabama in their opener but managed to power out the two-score win 31-17 in the end. Game two versus a vastly overmatched East Texas A&M team was a 77-3 blowout, and the Kent State game was quite similar. Florida State scored 35 points in the first quarter alone in that one, cruising to the win 66-10 in blowout fashion. The Seminoles’ offense posted a staggering 498 rushing yards in that one, along with 9.9 yards per play, 37 first downs and a stellar 9-of-10 success rate on third downs.

In their most recent outing versus Virginia, Florida State ran into their first bit of trouble. After scoring 21 points in the second quarter the Seminoles eventually fell in double-overtime 46-38 on the road. QB Thomas Castellanos was 18-of-32 for 254 yards, one TD and two picks, while also leading the rush with 14 carries for 78 yards and a score. Gavin Sawchuk added 17 carries for 74 yards and a score of his own, and Duce Robinson was tops among receivers with nine grabs for 147 yards and a touchdown.

Florida State vs Miami Prediction

I’m going to lean toward Miami, but you could certainly make a case either way. Some of the luster has worn off this one following FSU’s road loss to a plucky Virginia team last week, but it should still be a great matchup. In any case, Miami had a bit of trouble putting the Gators away in their last game despite holding Florida to just 141 total yards (61 passing), 2.7 yards per play, seven first downs and a perfect 0-of-13 on third downs. The offense did well enough on the other side, generating 344 yards (160 passing) with 21 first downs and 8-of-16 on third-down tries. The Hurricanes will need to take advantage of the extra prep time ahead of this one, though; it won’t be so easy against the Seminoles.

Speaking of Florida State, they’re reeling after a tough mistake-filled loss to Virginia last week. That said, the Seminoles will be ready to go for this one. Should be a fun game to watch.
