The Washington State Cougars and the Oregon State Beavers meet Saturday in college football action from Reser Stadium. Here’s an Oregon State vs Washington State prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Oregon State vs Washington State pick.
Washington State Cougars Betting Preview
The Cougars posted wins in each of their first two outings, dispatching Idaho and San Diego State. After falling against North Texas and Washington by blowouts in the next two, Washington State beat Colorado State on September 27. The ensuing pair were both losses however, as the Cougars fell versus Ole Miss and Virginia. Both were close games, though; Washington State lost on the road 22-20 against Virginia. The defense held the Cavs to just 13 first downs and 5-of-15 on third-down conversion attempts but the Cougars couldn’t keep pace on the other side thanks to a rough 3-of-12 on third downs and two picks themselves.
Matched up against Toledo last weekend, the Cougars moseyed through a scoreless first quarter before bombing in three touchdowns in the second. Washington State held the Rockets scoreless the rest of the way during a 28-7 home win. QB Zevi Eckhaus was 10-of-22 for 159 yards, two scores and two picks while also leading the rush on 15 carries for 74 yards and a touchdown. Josh Meredith was the team’s leading receiver with four catches for 81 yards, and Carter Pabst caught a TD among his two grabs for 49 yards in the win.
Oregon State Beavers Betting Preview
Over on the Oregon State side, they’ve got eight games under their collective belt and are coming off an open week. The Beavers kicked things off with a string of losses however, falling against California, Fresno State, Texas Tech, Oregon, Houston, App State and Wake Forest in their first seven. In the 39-14 loss to the Demon Deacons, Oregon State was down 25-0 by the end of the first half and surrendered points in every quarter. The Beavers offense went just 5-of-17 on third downs alongside two turnovers and 3.9 yards per play. The Demon Deacons’ 12 penalties for 109 yards were helpful but not nearly enough to keep the game close.
In their latest matchup versus Lafayette back on October 18, the Beavers finally got the elusive first victory. Oregon State was in trouble by halftime though, facing a 13-10 deficit at home. After 21 points in the third quarter however, the Beavers were well on their way to a 45-13 win. QB Gabari Johnson finished 7-of-9 for one TD and a pick while Anthony Hankerson did most of the offensive work on 25 totes for 204 yards and four scores. Gabe Milbourn had six catches for 48 yards and a score to top the receivers.

Oregon State vs Washington State Prediction
I’m going to stay with Oregon State. Probably not touching it, though. The Beavers started out on a rough clip in their latest outing versus Lafayette but closed strong in the victory. Oregon State gathered a whopping 517 yards, including 365 rushing yards, 23 first downs and 8.0 yards per play. The 3-of-9 on third downs and the two turnovers left much to be desired but the defense certainly kept things manageable on the other side. Oregon State has posted 23 or more points in three of the last four games now, and two of their last three losses have been very close.
As for Washington State, they had a great defensive day against Toledo last weekend with 299 yards, 15 first downs and 6-of-16 on third-down conversions allowed. The offense was pretty tepid though, with two picks and 6-of-12 on third downs themselves. The Cougars have posted at least 20 points in five straight games, but they’ve gone just 2-3 in that time.
