The Arkansas Razorbacks and Missouri State Bears do battle Saturday in a college football week 3 contest from Razorback Stadium. Missouri State is coming off a matchup versus TN-Martin. The Bears powered out a five-point win in that one. As for Arkansas, they played South Carolina in their last game. The Razorbacks ended up with a 14-point victory. Missouri State kicked off their season with matchup versus Central Arkansas. The Bears jumped out to a 17-0 lead by halftime and ended up with a 27-14 win. QB Jason Shelley logged 266 yards and a TD while also leading the rush on 51 yards and a score.
In game two, the Bears took on TN-Martin in a trickier matchup. Missouri State outscored the Skyhawks 14-6 in the final quarter for a 35-30 comeback victory. Shelley logged 297 yards and five touchdowns. Jacardia Wright led the rush with 120 yards from 23 carries.
Over on the Arkansas side, they were able to hold off a pesky Cincinnati team in their opener and powered out a 31-24 victory. Quarterback KJ Jefferson posted 223 yards and three scores, while Raheim Sanders finished on 117 yards from 20 carries.
In game two versus South Carolina, the Razorbacks scored 23 points in the final quarter during a 44-30 victory. Jefferson managed 162 yards and a passing score, while Sanders led the rush with 156 yards and two scores. Jefferson also added 67 rush yards and another TD.
PICK: I’m likely going to go with Arkansas. The Razorbacks do have a few things to clean up after the South Carolina game, but this should certainly be a more favorable matchup. Arkansas gave up 376 passing yards and committed 10 penalties during their last outing. That said, the Razorbacks also rushed for 295 yards, bagged three turnovers and collected 28 first downs in the win. Missouri State has been scoring well over their first two games so the Arkansas defense is going to need to be on point. That said, it should be well within reason for the Razorbacks to cover here if they’re playing well.
