Atlanta Braves vs. New York Mets
June 26, 2025 7:10 pm EDT

Major League Baseball presents Draftkings baseball fans with a National League matchup featuring the Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets. Let’s take a look at this MLB game from a DFS perspective.

Before we dive into the Atlanta Braves vs. New York Mets game let’s review the rules for the Draftkings MLB single game showdown contest.

Draftkings Single Game Showdown Contest Rules

You have $50,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team captain. The captain accumulates 1.5 times the standard fantasy points. Additionally, the captain is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.

The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard fantasy points. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your captain position if you hope to win a large field DFS GPP (guaranteed prize pool) showdown contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game showdown contest, I recommend that you check out the Draftkings website for more details.

*I recommend that all readers review the starting lineups for both teams prior to setting your DFS lineup for this one game slate.

Here are my Draftkings picks for this evening’s Braves vs. Mets matchup.

Draftkings MLB Showdown Picks

Captain-Grant Holmes, Starting Pitcher, Atlanta Braves $11,600

On Thursday night, Major League Baseball presents the final game of a four-game National League series featuring the Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets.

How are these two teams playing entering today’s MLB game? The Atlanta Braves arrive at the fourth game of this four-game series with the New York Mets playing good baseball. The Braves have won six of the team’s last ten games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including a 7-0 shutout win over the Miami Marlins five days ago.

In direct contrast to the Atlanta Braves, the New York Mets are playing subpar baseball entering today’s National League contest. More specifically, the Mets have lost ten of the team’s last 12 games played this season, including a 10-1 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies last week.

Now that we have identified how both of these teams are currently playing let’s shift our focus to this evening’s contest. Starting pitcher Grant Holmes has emerged as a reliable presence for the Atlanta Braves starting pitching rotation this season. Having stated that, how has the veteran pitcher performed from a statistical perspective? Let’s review Holmes relevant game data from the 2025 MLB regular season to answer that question.

In the 15 games that starting pitcher Grant Holmes has made for Atlanta Braves this season, Holmes has compiled a 4-6 (won-loss record), a 3.71 ERA (Earned Run Average) and a 1.22 WHIP (Walks and Hits per Inning Pitched) in 2025. Holmes has amassed 97 strikeouts (15th in MLB) while allowing 39 walks in 85 innings pitched this season.

Last month, in the Los Angeles Dodgers 2-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta starting pitcher Grant Holmes certainly pitched at a high level. Let me be more specific. Holmes pitched six quality innings while scattering four hits and two walks in the Dodgers victory over Atlanta. It should also be noted that in the Dodgers win over the Braves, Holmes tallied 23.9 Draftkings points.

In my opinion, Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Grant Holmes is the most likely player to post the most Draftkings points in tonight’s MLB game. With that said, I am backing Grant Holmes at the captain position for this one game MLB DFS slate.

Flex plays I like to play well in this MLB regular season contest (Draftkings price noted): Griffin Canning, Starting Pitcher (New York Mets) $10,600: Juan Soto, Outfielder (New York Mets) $9,200: Ronald Acuna Jr., Outfielder (Atlanta Braves) $10,200.
