Major League Baseball presents a matchup between the Kansas City Royals and the Oakland Athletics. Let’s take a look at this MLB game from a Draftkings perspective.

Before we dive into the Kansas City Royals vs. Oakland Athletics game let’s review the rules for the Draftkings single game showdown contest.

Draftkings Single Game Showdown Contest Rules

You have $50,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team captain. The captain accumulates 1.5 times the standard fantasy points. Additionally, the captain is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.

The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard fantasy points. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your captain position if you hope to win a large field DFS GPP (guaranteed prize pool) showdown contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game showdown contest, I recommend that you check out the Draftkings website for more details.

*I recommend that all readers review the starting lineups for both teams prior to setting your DFS lineup for this one game slate

Here are my Draftkings picks for tonight’s Kansas City Royals vs. Oakland Athletics matchup.

Draftkings Picks

Captain-Alec Marsh, Pitcher, Kansas City Royals $11,200

A three-game series in the American League starts up on Tuesday when the Kansas City Royals travel to California to battle the Oakland Athletics.

How are these two teams playing entering tonight’s game? The Kansas City Royals just lost two of three on the road in Los Angeles against the Dodgers, while the Oakland Athletics just dropped four straight to the Minnesota Twins. Let’s just say that both the Royals and Athletics are not playing good baseball entering this evening’s MLB contest in Oakland.

Although the Royals have struggled at times this season, Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Alec Marsh has certainly been one of the few bright spots for this Kansas City Royals team this season. Let’s review Alec Marsh’s game data to better shed light on my previous statement.

In 12 starts for the Kansas City Royals this season, Kansas City starting pitcher Alec Marsh has pitched 67 innings. In those 67 innings pitched in 12 starts for the Royals, Marsh has struck out 61 batters and allowed 19 walks. Furthermore, Marsh has a 3.63 ERA (Earned Run Average) and 1.09 WHIP (Walks and Hits per Inning Pitched).

More recently, in the Kansas City Royals 4-3 loss to the New York Yankees five days ago, Kansas City starting pitcher Alec Marsh took a no-hitter into the seventh inning before giving up a leadoff single to the Yankees Juan Soto.

If Marsh can shut down the powerful New York Yankees lineup for six innings what will he do versus the abysmal Oakland Athletics? In my opinion, the sky is the limit.

As I noted in the rules section above, selecting the correct captain for your DFS single game showdown lineup is vital if you hope to win a large field GPP (guaranteed prize pool) Draftkings contest. Keep that in mind as you determine which player to select as your captain for this one game MLB Draftkings contest. For me, the clear choice at captain is talented Kansas City Royals pitcher Alec Marsh.

Flex Plays

Bobby Witt Jr., Shortstop, Kansas City Royals $10,000

In his last two games played for the Kansas City Royals, Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. accumulated three hits in six at bats. I fully expect Bobby Witt Jr. to continue his quality play on the baseball diamond in tonight’s matchup versus the Oakland Athletics.

Additional flex plays I like (Draftkings price noted): Garrett Hampson, Second Baseman, (Kansas City) $4,200: Hogan Harris, Pitcher (Oakland) $10,800: Shea Langeliers, Catcher (Oakland) $8,000.
