Breaking down the best FanDuel picks for this evening's Mets vs. Brewers matchup.
New York Mets vs. Milwaukee Brewers
October 3, 2024 7:08 pm EDT
On Thursday night, Major League Baseball presents FanDuel baseball fans with a playoff matchup between the New York Mets and the Milwaukee Brewers. Let’s take a look at this MLB game from a DFS perspective.
Before we dive into the New York Mets vs. Milwaukee Brewers game let’s review the rules for the FanDuel single game showdown contest.
FanDuel Single Game Contest Rules
Here are the FanDuel single game contest rules. You have $60,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team MVP. The MVP accumulates 2x times the standard FanDuel fantasy points value.
The remaining four players in your lineup will be one star and three flex plays. The star player will receive 1.5x the standard fantasy points value. The final three flex positions will receive the standard FanDuel points value. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your MVP position if you hope to win a large field GPP (guaranteed prize pool) FanDuel single game contest.
If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game contest, I highly recommend that you check out the FanDuel website for more details.
*It should be noted that FanDuel does not utilize the pitcher position in single game MLB contests. Having stated that, only batters are available for single game MLB lineups on the FanDuel platform.
Here are my FanDuel picks for this evening’s New York Mets vs. Milwaukee Brewers matchup.
FanDuel MLB Player Selections
MVP-Jackson Chourio, Outfielder, Milwaukee Brewers $7,500
On Thursday night, Major League Baseball presents the third game of a National League Wild Card playoff series featuring the New York Mets and the Milwaukee Brewers.
How are these two teams playing entering today’s MLB playoff game? The Milwaukee Brewers arrive at the third game of this National League Wild Card series with the New York Mets playing rather good baseball. The Brewers have won six of the team’s last nine games played in the 2024 MLB regular season, including a 5-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates seven days ago.
In direct contrast to the Milwaukee Brewers, the New York Mets have been playing below average baseball recently. More specifically, the New York Mets have lost five of the team’s last eight games played this season, including a 5-1 loss to the Atlanta Braves last week.
It should be noted that the Milwaukee Brewers won the second game of this National League Wild Card playoff series defeating the New York Mets 5-3.
Now that we have identified how both of these Major League Baseball teams are currently playing let’s shift our focus to today’s National League Wild Card game.
Talented Brewers outfielder Jackson Chourio has certainly been a key contributor to the Milwaukee Brewers offense in the 2024 MLB regular season. Let’s review Chourio’s recent game data to better shed light on my previous statement.
Milwaukee outfielder Jackson Chourio arrives at tonight’s National League Wild Card game on the heels of a six-game hitting streak. In that six-game span just mentioned, Chourio compiled nine hits (two home runs), four RBIs (runs batted in), and three runs scored in 31 plate appearances. Clearly, Jackson Chourio is swinging the bat at a high-level entering tonight’s MLB playoff game.
As I noted in the rules section above, selecting the correct MVP is absolutely vital if you hope to win a large field GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest. In summary, I am rolling with Milwaukee outfielder Jackson Chourio at the MVP position for this one game MLB DFS slate.
Star-Brandon Nimmo, Outfielder, New York Mets $8,000
In his last five games played for the New York Mets this season, Brandon Nimmo has accumulated five hits, three RBIs (runs batted in), and three runs scored. I expect Brandon Nimo to continue his outstanding play later today.
Flex plays I like for today’s game (FanDuel price noted): William Contreras, Catcher (Milwaukee Brewers) $9,000: Francisco Lindor, Shortstop (New York Mets) $9,500.
