Washington Nationals vs. Arizona Diamondbacks
May 31, 2025 10:10 pm EDT
Major League Baseball presents FanDuel baseball fans with a National League matchup featuring the Washington Nationals and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Let’s take a look at this MLB game from a DFS perspective.
Before we dive into the Washington Nationals vs. Arizona Diamondbacks game let’s review the rules for the FanDuel single game showdown contest.
FanDuel Single Game Contest Rules
Here are the FanDuel single game contest rules. You have $60,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team MVP. The MVP accumulates 1.5x times the standard FanDuel fantasy points value. Additionally, the MVP is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.
The remaining five players in your lineup will be flex plays. The five flex positions will receive the standard FanDuel points value. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your MVP position if you hope to win a large field GPP (guaranteed prize pool) FanDuel single game contest.
If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game contest, I highly recommend that you check out the FanDuel website for more details.
*It should be noted that FanDuel does not utilize the pitcher position in single game MLB contests. Having stated that, only batters are available for single game MLB lineups on the FanDuel platform.
Here are my FanDuel picks for this evening’s Nationals vs. Diamondbacks matchup.
FanDuel MLB DFS Picks
MVP-Josh Naylor, First Baseman, Arizona Diamondbacks $9,400
On Saturday night, Major League Baseball presents the second game of a three-game National League series featuring the Washington Nationals and the Arizona Diamondbacks.
How are these two teams playing entering today’s MLB game? The Arizona Diamondbacks arrive at the second game of this three-game series with the Washington Nationals playing below average baseball. The Diamondbacks have lost eight of the team’s last nine games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including an embarrassing 10-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates three days ago.
Conversely, the Washington Nationals are playing good baseball entering this evening’s National League game. More specifically, the Nationals have won nine of the team’s last 12 games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including a 4-0 shutout win over the San Francisco Giants last week.
Now that we have determined how both of these teams are currently playing let’s shift our focus to tonight’s game. First Baseman Josh Naylor has been a solid contributor for the Arizona Diamondbacks this season. Having stated that, how has the veteran first baseman performed from a data standpoint? Let’s review Naylor’s relevant key player statistics from the 2025 MLB regular season to answer that question.
In the 55 games that Josh Naylor has played for the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2025 MLB regular season, Naylor has compiled a rather impressive .300 batting average, six home runs, 19 walks, 35 RBIs (runs batted in), 28 runs scored and a .354 OBP (On-Base Percentage).
More recently, in the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-0 shutout win over the Pittsburgh Pirates earlier this month, Josh Naylor certainly played at a high level. In Arizona’s victory over the Pirates, Josh Naylor amassed one hit (one home run), two RBIs and one run scored. It should also be noted that in the Diamondbacks defeat of the Pirates, Butler tallied 22.2 FanDuel points.
In my view, Josh Naylor is the most likely player to accumulate the most FanDuel points in this MLB game. With that said, I am backing Washington Nationals first baseman Josh Naylor at the MVP position for this one game MLB DFS slate.
Flex plays I like in this game (FanDuel price noted): Corbin Carroll, Outfielder (Arizona Diamondbacks) $14,000: Luis Garcia Jr. (Washington Nationals) $8,800: Nathaniel Lowe, First Baseman (Washington Nationals) $8,400.
