Charles Schwab Challenge: Longshot Picks, Predictions, Odds 5/26/22
Charles Schwab Challenge
May 26, 2022 8:20 am EDT
This week, the PGA Tour presents golf fans with the 2022 Charles Schwab Challenge.
Before I discuss my favorite longshot golf bets for this week’s 2022 Charles Schwab Challenge, let’s take a look at the betting odds of past champions of this tournament to see if we can find any historical trends.
Here is a list of the last five winners of the Charles Schwab including that golfer’s opening odds the week they won the event and the score that player posted to win:
2021 Jason Kokrak +6000 (-14)
2020 Daniel Berger +7000 (-15)
2019 Kevin Na +7000 (-13)
2018 Justin Rose +2000 (-20)
2017 Kevin Kisner +3300 (-10)
Now let’s shift our focus to my favorite longshot player selections for the 2022 Charles Schwab Challenge.
Here is a golfer to consider placing on your card to finish in the top ten.
Stewart Cink +1000
The 2009 Open Champion arrives at this week’s PGA Tour event on the heels of two consecutive top 23 finishes, including a ninth place result at the 2022 Wells Fargo Championship three weeks ago.
In relation to this week’s current listed 2022 Charles Schwab Challenge field, in the last eight rounds played on the PGA Tour, Stewart Cink ranks fifth in strokes gained ball striking, third in strokes gained off the tee, and first in birdie or better percentage.
It should also be noted that Stewart Cink finished tenth at the 2017 Charles Schwab Challenge.
Here is a golfer to consider placing on your card to finish in the top 20.
Vince Whaley +700
Due to the fact that this week’s PGA Tour event is being held in the state of Texas, I decided to take a hard look at the field relative to previous performance in Texas. Well, Vince Whaley checks that box. Let me be more specific. Since the beginning of the 2021 season, Vince Whaley has played six tournaments (PGA and Korn Ferry Tours combined) in the state of Texas. In those six events just noted, Whaley has accumulated five top 29 finishes, including a 25th place result at the 2022 AT&T Byron Nelson two weeks ago.
From a golf betting perspective, in my opinion, Vince Whaley presents outstanding value. Why? Whaley’s recent performance noted earlier in this article suggests a top 20 finish is most certainly attainable at this week’s 2022 Charles Schwab Challenge.
