This week, the PGA Tour presents golf bettors with the 2023 Genesis Invitational.
Before I discuss my favorite tournament matchup bet for the 2023 Genesis Invitational let’s take a look at the current leaders in scoring average on the PGA Tour that are in this week’s field.
Top Five Golfers in Scoring Average

Now that we have established who the top five golfers with regard to scoring average are on the PGA Tour (in this week’s field) let’s shift our attention to my favorite tournament matchup bet for this week’s 2023 Genesis invitational.
Viktor Hovland -120 over Cameron Young
Since the beginning of September, Viktor Hovland has played nine events on the PGA Tour. In those nine tournaments just mentioned, Hovland has accumulated seven top 23 finishes, including a 13th place result at the 2023 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am earlier this month.
Due to the fact that Viktor Hovland played so well at the 2023 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, I decided to take a hard look at Hovland’s statistics relative to the field.
After four rounds of competitive play at the 2023 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, relative to the field, Viktor Hovland ranked fifth in driving accuracy (80%), ninth in GIR (greens in regulation-75%), and third in strokes gained off the tee (2.427).
It should also be noted that Viktor Hovland finished fourth at the 2022 Genesis Invitational.
