Shriners Hospitals Open: PGA Tour Picks, Predictions, Odds 10/7/21
Shriners Hospitals Open
October 7, 2021 9:40 am EDT
This week, the PGA Tour travels to Las Vegas for the Shriners Hospitals Open.
Before I discuss my favorite golf bets for this week’s PGA Tour event let’s take a quick look at the golf course the field will play and the key player statistics that I think are the most vital to a player’s success at this week’s Shriners Hospitals Open.
The Shriners Hospitals Open will be played at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas, Nevada. The golf course is a par 71 that measures approximately 7,255 yards. I think it’s important to note that this golf course is about 2,700 feet above sea level. Additionally, the greens at TPC Summerlin are bentgrass.
TPC Summerlin has exclusively hosted the Shriners Hospitals Open since 2008. It should be noted that this golf course has consistently been vulnerable to low scoring since the tournament’s move to TPC Summerlin. Just to provide some clarity to that statement, Martin Laird won the 2020 Shriners Hospitals Open with a four round cumulative score of 23 under par.
The key statistics I will be focusing this week are driving accuracy, strokes gained tee to green, strokes gained off the tee, and GIR (greens in regulation).
Here are my favorite bets for this week’s Shriners Hospitals Open!
Here are three golfers to consider placing on your card to finish in the top twenty.
Luke List +400
The 36 year old American fired a final round 65 at last week’s Sanderson Farms Championship on his way to an eventual 17th place finish.
Luke List also checks the box for me when it comes to key player statistics. List is currently ranked 15th in driving distance (319.5 yards), 13th in strokes gained off the tee (.856), and 14th in strokes gained tee to green (1.472) on the PGA Tour.
It should also be noted that Luke List finished 13th at the 2019 Shriners Hospitals Open.
Adam Schenk +550
Full disclosure, Schenk’s results on the PGA Tour have been inconsistent this year. However, Schenk has shown glimpses of outstanding play in 2021. Schenk finished 18th at the 2021 Valspar Championship in May and fourth at the 2021 John Deere Classic in July.
I also like the fact that Adam Schenk has posted top 20 finishes at this week’s PGA Tour event multiple times previously. Let me be more specific. Schenk has played the Shriners Hospitals Open four times since 2017. In those four tournaments just mentioned, Schenk has accumulated two top 20 finishes, including an 18th place result at the 2019 Shriners Hospitals Open.
Peter Malnati +550
The 34 year old American fired a second round 66 at the Fortinet Championship three weeks ago en route to an eventual 22nd place finish.
Malnati also checks the box for me when it comes to previous event/course history. Malnati has played the Shriners Hospitals Open three times since 2018. In those three tournaments just mentioned, Malnati has accumulated two top 15 finishes, including a fifth place result at the 2020 Shriners Hospitals Open.
Due to the fact that Malnati has illustrated multiple times in the past that he can contend on a Sunday afternoon at the Shriners Hospitals Open I am willing to take a chance on him to post a top 20 this week.
