This Thursday, the PGA Tour presents golf fans with the first round of the 2023 Valero Texas Open.
Before I discuss my favorite tournament matchup bet for this week’s PGA Tour event let’s take a look at the current leaders in scoring average on the PGA Tour that are in the 2023 Valero Texas Open field.
Before I discuss my favorite tournament matchup bet for the 2023 Valero Texas Open let’s take a look at the current leaders in scoring average on the PGA Tour that are in this week’s field.
Top Five Golfers in Scoring Average
- Rickie Fowler 69.99
- Ben Griffin 70.16
- Andrew Putnam 70.25
- Nick Taylor 68.20
- Chris Kirk 70.37
Now that we have determined who the top five golfers with regard to scoring average are on the PGA Tour (in this week’s field) let’s shift our attention to my favorite tournament matchup bet for this week’s 2023 Valero Texas Open.
Patton Kizzire +100 over Beau Hossler
Patton Kizzire posted a third round 67 at the 2023 Valspar Championship two weeks ago en route to an eventual tenth place finish.
Due to the fact that Kizzire played so well at the 2023 Valspar Championship, I decided to take a hard look at Kizzire’s player statistics for the event relative to the field.
After four rounds of competitive golf played at the 2023 Valspar Championship, relative to the field, Patton Kizzire ranked 16th in strokes gained off the tee (1.837), eighth in scrambling (75%), 11th in driving accuracy (63.5%) and fourth in total birdies made (16).
Additionally, I like the fact that Patton Kizzire has played well at this week’s PGA Tour event previously. More specifically, Kizzire finished ninth at the 2021 Valeron Texas Open.
