Minnesota Twins vs. Detroit Tigers – 9/7/20 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

2020-09-07 14:10:00 EDT

The Detroit Tigers and the Minnesota Twins meet Monday in MLB action from Target Field.

This will be the final game in a lengthy weekend set between these teams. The Twins won the first three matchups 2-0, 3-2 and 4-3. In the Sunday game four, the Tigers offense stormed back from an early deficit for a 10-8 win. Check back all season long for free MLB picks and MLB predictions at Sports Chat Place.

The Tigers started slow in the Sunday game, falling behind 6-2 going into the sixth inning. Detroit scored eight runs over the next three frames. Every starter had a hit in that one, and the team had 17 in total. Starting pitcher Casey Mize went 4.0 innings with five hits and three earned alongside two walks and three strikeouts.
For the Monday starting role, the Tigers will go with Michael Fulmer. Over six starts and no decisions so far, Fulmer carries a 7.27 ERA with 17 strikeouts in 17.1 innings of work. On his career, Fulmer is 24-31 with a 3.94 ERA and 373 Ks in 473.1 innings total.

Over on the Twins’ side, Sunday starting pitcher Rich Hill had an okay outing with 5.0 innings, six hits, two earned and five strikeouts. The Minnesota offense put together 13 hits, and Eddie Rosario had two RBI, two hits and a solo home run to lead the way.

For the Monday starting pitcher slot, Minnesota is sending Michael Pineda to the mound. Pineda has just one start to his credit this year, going 6.0 innings with four strikeouts for a 3.00 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP. Over his MLB career, Pineda is 51-46 with a 4.03 ERA and 831 Ks in 832.0 innings of work.

The Tigers are 5-0 in their last five during game five of a series and 46-114 in their last 160 overall. Detroit is 18-45 in their last 63 road games and 11-28 in their last 39 Monday games.

Meanwhile, the Twins are 21-7 in their last 28 home games and 42-18 in their last 60 games as a favorite. Minnesota is 84-40 in their last 124 versus a team with a losing record and the under is 18-7-2 in their last 27 Monday games.

Pick: I have to stick with the Twins again here. That said, I do think Fulmer will have a nice outing. He’s won each of his five career starts versus Minnesota, and has a 3-0 record with a nice 2.55 ERA at Target Field in his three outings there. Pineda should be solid again as well, as he came off suspension for six innings of two-run ball versus the White Sox. This is looking like another close game, and should be a fun way to finish off the series.
