Baltimore Orioles vs. Tampa Bay Rays – 9/18/20 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

2020-09-18 19:35:00 EDT

The Tampa Bay Rays and the Baltimore Orioles meet in an AL East division matchup in MLB action from Camden Yards on Friday.

The Tampa Bay Rays will look to build off of a double-header sweep over the O’s on Thursday, taking game one by a final score of 3-1 and game two by a final score of 10-6. Game one saw Brett Phillips log a triple and an RBI while Yoshi Tsutsugo and Brandon Lowe each had an RBI to finish off the scoring for the Rays in the win. Kevin Kiermaier and Michael Perez each had a double as well as Tampa had four hits as a team in the loss. Blake Snell allowed one run on two hits over 5.1 innings of work in the start, but it was Diego Castillo that got the win to improve to 3-0 on the year. Game two saw Joey Wendle and Willy Adames each had three RBIs with a home run. Hunter Renfroe had a solo homer while Randy Arozarena, Nate Lowe and Kevan Smith all had RBIs as well in the victory. Peter Fairbanks would pick up the win in relief to improve his record to 5-3 on the year. Tyler Glasnow will start here and is 3-1 with a 4.47 ERA and 73 strikeouts this season. In his career, Glasnow is 3-0 with a 2.12 ERA and 38 strikeouts against Baltimore.

The Baltimore Orioles will look to bounce back after being swept by the Rays in the double dip on Thursday. Game one saw Ryan Mountcastle go 2 for 3 with Baltimore’s lone RBI while Pat Valaika added a base knock as the O’s mustered up just three hits as a team in the loss. Dean Kremer gave up one run on three hits with six strikeouts in five innings, but it was Cesar Valdez who took the loss on the mound in game one. Game two saw D.j. Stewart and Rio Ruiz each log two RBIs with Ruiz belting a homer while Stewart had a double. Hanser Alberto added a solo homer and Ryan Mountcastle added a double and an RBI to finish Baltimore’s scoring in game two. Chance Sisco and Cedric Mullins each had two hits and Pat Valaika added a hit in game two as well to finish Baltimore’s offense in defeat. Cole Sulser took the loss in game two in relief to fall to 1-5 on the year. Alex Cobb will start here and is 1-4 with a 5.03 ERA and 29 strikeouts this season. In his career, Cobb is 0-3 with a 4.61 ERA and 12 strikeouts against Tampa Bay.

Tampa Bay is 15-4 in their last 19 road games and 26-10 in their last 36 games overall while the over is 7-3-1 in their last 11 games as a road favorite. Baltimore is 26-61 in their last 87 games within the division and 53-112 in their last 165 games as a home underdog while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 games within the division. The under is 6-2-1 in the last 9 meetings between these two teams in Baltimore.

The bats took a while to get going on Thursday, but I think we regress back here with both sides feeling the effects of that double-header on Friday. Glasnow’s pitched better and Cobb’s only yielded two runs in his lone start against Tampa Bay this season so I’ll side with the under here. However my stronger play is on the side and I have that available as a premium play that you can find here.
