The Baltimore Orioles and the Texas Rangers meet in MLB action from Globe Life Field on Saturday.
The Baltimore Orioles will look to pick up another win after a 5-2 win over Texas on Friday. Cedric Mullins leads the Orioles with a .396 batting average, a .458 OBP and a team-high 21 hits with 7 doubles while Trey Mancini has a team-high 3 homers with 10 RBIs and Maikel Franco leads Baltimore with 12 RBIs this season. Ryan Mountcastle and the aforementioned Franco each have 4 doubles with Mountcastle leading the Orioles with 19 strikeouts this season. Dean Kremer is expected to get the start here and is 0-1 with a 10.50 ERA and 8 strikeouts this season. This will be Kremer’s first career start against Texas.
The Texas Rangers will look to bounce back after failing to get the offense going in Friday’s loss to the O’s. Nate Lowe leads the Rangers at the dish with 4 home runs and 15 RBIs while Nick Solak is batting a team-high .275 and Joey Gallo has a team-best .467 OBP this season. Solak and Isiah Kiner-Falefa share the team lead with Jose Trevino with 14 hits this season while David Dahl has 3 doubles. Lowe also leads Texas with 20 strikeouts at the plate this season. Dane Dunning will get the start here and is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 11 strikeouts this season. This will be Dunning’s first career start against Baltimore.
Baltimore is 19-52 in their last 71 games against the AL West and 66-147 in their last 213 road games while the over is 8-2 in their last 10 games against a team with a losing record. Texas is 1-4 in their last 5 Saturday games and 5-1 in their last 6 games against the AL East while the over is 20-8-3 in their last 31 game 2 matchups. Baltimore is 5-13 in the last 18 meetings between these two teams in Texas.
The Texas Rangers aren’t a team I’m really looking to back long term if we’re being honest, but the Orioles are at a real disadvantage with Kremer on the mound while the Rangers get Dunning on the bump here. Dunning is starting to look like every bit of the high-level prospect the Nationals grabbed and the White Sox thought they’d acquire in that trade, but Texas is reaping the benefits. Either way, I think Dunning continues his strong start with a win for the Rangers here.
