The Houston Astros and the Boston Red Sox meet in MLB action from Fenway Park on Wednesday night.

The Houston Astros will look to build on a 7-1 win over the Red Sox from Tuesday night.

Yordan Alvarez and Carlos Correa each had a home run and two RBIs with Alvarez belting a two-run shot while Correa went 3 for 5 with a solo home run and a double. Martin Maldonado also added two RBIs while Yuli Gurriel went 3 for 4 with an RBI to cap off the scoring for the Astros in the win. Kyle Tucker and Michael Brantley each had a double while Alex Bregman added a base hit as well to finish off the offense for Houston in the winning effort. Framber Valdez got the win to improve to 2-0 on the year after allowing one earned run on five hits while striking out eight over 7.1 innings of work. Jake Odorizzi will start here and is 0-3 with a 7.16 ERA and 17 strikeouts this season. In his career, Odorizzi is 4-7 with a 4.84 ERA and 78 strikeouts against Boston.

The Boston Red Sox will try to bounce back from their loss to the Astros on Tuesday. Hunter Renfroe had the lone RBI for Boston in the losing effort while Enrique Hernandez went 2 for 4 with a double. Kevin Plawecki, Christian Vazquez, J.D. Martinez and Xander Bogaerts each had a base hit as well to cap off Boston’s offense as the Red Sox had just six hits as a team in the loss. Martin Perez took the loss, falling to 4-3 on the year after allowing six runs on six hits with a pair of strikeouts over just two innings of work. Nathan Eovaldi will start here and is 7-2 with a 3.78 ERA and 65 strikeouts this season. In his career, Eovaldi is 1-1 with a 3.19 ERA and 28 strikeouts against Houston.

Houston is 7-2 in their last 9 games overall and 7-2 in their last 9 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 games against the AL East. Boston is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall and 4-1 in their last 5 home games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games as a favorite. Houston is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings between these two teams.

I get the case that could be made for the Astros here as they took it to the Red Sox in a big way on Tuesday. However, Boston has been rock solid at home and while I’m not president of the Nathan Eovaldi fan club, there’s no denying how well he’s pitched for much of the season. I look for the Red Sox to exact some revenge and get the win at home on Wednesday.
