The Colorado Rockies and the Los Angeles Angels meet Wednesday in MLB action from Angel Stadium. This will be the final installment in a three-game set between these teams. In the series opener Monday, the Angels secured a four-run victory. On Tuesday, Colorado evened it up with a huge win of their own. Colorado had eight hits in the Monday opener but couldn’t keep up the pace in an eventual 6-2 defeat. On Tuesday, the Rockies tallied 16 hits in an eventual 12-3 win. Austin Gomber put up 6.0 innings with five hits and two earned runs.

For the Wednesday game, the Rockies will send out Chi Chi Gonzalez as the starter. In his 90.2 innings of work this year Gonzalez has 108 hits with 61 earned runs, 16 homers allowed, 24 walks, 53 strikeouts and a 6.06 ERA.

Over on the Angels’ side, they scored multiple runs in three different innings on Monday, finishing with 10 team hits. In the Tuesday game two, LA showed some offensive flashes but couldn’t dig out of the deficit. Jose Suarez lasted just 3.1 innings with four earned on six hits and two walks.

For the Wednesday finale, the Angels will send Andrew Heaney to the hill. Over 88.0 innings of work this year, Heaney has 88 hits, 53 runs (52 earned), 15 homers allowed, 28 walks, 105 Ks and a 5.32 ERA.

The Rockies are 6-1 in their last seven Wednesday games and 5-1 in their last six in game three of a series. Colorado is 5-2 in the last seven versus a lefty starter and 25-56 in their last 81 versus a team with a winning record.

Meanwhile, the Angels are 14-3 in their last 17 in game three of a series and 7-19 in their last 26 Wednesday games. The over is 3-0-1 in the Angels’ last four Wednesday games and 6-2-1 in the last nine in game three of a series.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on the Angels, but probably staying away. Both pitchers could use a good outing to show some consistency. Heaney had a nice start versus the Twins his last time up, but prior to that had given up 14 earned runs in his previous three outings. As for Gonzalez, he’s given up 11 earned in his last nine innings over two starts. This one could get out of hand quickly if neither starter is at his best.
