The New York Mets and the Milwaukee Brewers meet Sunday in MLB action from American Family Field. This will be the final installment in a three-game series over the weekend. The Brewers took a four-run win in the Friday opener, then on Saturday Milwaukee kept it going with a close victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

New York scored once in the first inning and posted four hits in a 5-1 defeat in game one Friday. In the Saturday game, the Mets had six team hits in an eventual 2-1 defeat. Starter Rich Hill managed 5.0 innings with two earned on four walks and two hits.

For the starter job in the Sunday finale, New York will send out Carlos Carrasco. Over his 44.2 innings this year Carrasco has 45 hits, 29 runs (26 earned), nine homers allowed, 12 walks, 42 Ks and a 5.24 ERA.

Over on the Brewers’ side, they notched three runs in the third inning during Friday’s win. On Saturday, Milwaukee made their four hits count during the tight victory. Corbin Burnes put up 7.0 frames with five hits, one walk and one earned run.

For the Sunday starter gig, the Brewers will send out Freddy Peralta. Over 139.0 innings this season Peralta has 79 hits, 43 runs (41 earned), 13 homers allowed, 55 walks, 190 Ks and a 2.65 ERA.

The Mets are 5-0 in their last five Sunday games and 5-17 in their last 22 versus a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15. The over is 5-1 in New York’s last six Sunday games as well.

Meanwhile, the Brewers are 5-1 in their last six Sunday games and 19-7 in their last 26 at home versus a team with a losing record. Milwaukee is also 21-8 in their last 29 in game three of a series.

PICK: I’m going to take Milwaukee. Peralta has done fairly well over his last two starts, posting three earned on nine hits and one walk over 12.0 innings of work. As for Carrasco, he’s got five earned over 16.0 innings on 15 hits and seven walks in his last three outings. This looks like a promising starter matchup that could turn into a close game, but I like Milwaukee to eke out a victory in the end.
