The Detroit Tigers and the Milwaukee Brewers meet Monday in MLB action from American Family Field. Detroit is coming off a weekend series versus the Orioles. After losses in the first two games, on Sunday the Tigers fell again in a close one. As for Milwaukee, they played the Red Sox over the weekend. The Brewers split the first pair in that set, then in the Sunday rubber match Milwaukee lost by seven runs. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.
Detroit Tigers
The Tigers lost to the Orioles 2-1 in the Friday opener and 5-1 in Saturday’s matchup. In the Sunday finale Detroit fell 2-1 in 10 innings. Eduardo Rodriguez went 7.0 clean frames with one hit, no walks and six strikeouts as starter.
For the starter job in the Monday game the Tigers will send out Matthew Boyd. In his three starts so far Boyd is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA and 11 Ks in 14.0 innings. Boyd is 39-63 with a 4.89 ERA in 162 career games (148 starts).
Milwaukee Brewers
Over on the Milwaukee side, they lost to the Red Sox 5-3 in game one but then took a 5-4 Saturday win. On Sunday the Brewers gave up a whopping nine runs in the eighth inning during a 12-5 loss. Starter Corbin Burnes posted 5.0 innings with two earned on five hits and three walks.
Colin Rea will take the mound for the start on Monday. Over his two starts this year Rea has a 4.22 ERA without a decision and eight Ks in 10.2 innings total. Rea is 8-8 with a 4.85 ERA in 38 career games (29 starts).

Meanwhile, the Brewers are 6-2 in their last eight Monday games and 7-3 in the last 10 versus the AL Central. The over is 4-1 in Milwaukee’s last five Monday games.
ANDREW’S FREE PICK
I’ll probably take a stab on the Tigers here. Also probably not touching it, though—Detroit really needs to get their offense going after just three runs in the Orioles series. Boyd hasn’t been terrible over his first three starts this year, but he’s still searching for a big outing. Boyd has seven combined earned runs over 14.0 innings across three starts, giving up nine walks and 12 hits total. On Sunday Detroit posted another futile offensive effort, notching just one run on seven hits. The Tigers may have some better luck here, but it’s probably not one to mess with.
