In this article we will formulate a Cincinnati Reds vs Milwaukee Brewers prediction for this MLB game on Saturday, August 31st at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, Ohio. Let’s take a look at the prediction for game three in the series.

Cincinnati Reds Betting Preview

The Cincinnati Reds are 64-72 this year and they have lost five of their last six games. Cincinnati lost both games of the doubleheader on Friday and allowed 19 runs in the process. Prior to this series, the Reds lost two out of three against the Athletics, lost three out of four against the Pirates, and won two out of three against the Blue Jays. Cincinnati is 4-11 in their last 15 games and they are fourth in the NL Central.

The Cincinnati pitching staff has a 4.20 ERA, a 1.26 WHIP, and a .241 opponent batting average. The Reds’ offense has scored 608 runs with a .232 batting average and a .305 on base percentage. Elly De La Cruz is batting .266 with 22 home runs and 61 RBI’s for the Reds this season.

Milwaukee Brewers Betting Preview

The Milwaukee Brewers are 79-56 this season and they have won four games in a row. Milwaukee won both games of the doubleheader on Friday by scores of 5-4 and 14-0. Prior to this series, the Brewers won two out of three against the Giants, won two out of three against the Athletics, and lost two out of three against the Cardinals. Milwaukee is 12-4 in their last 16 games and they are fifth in the NL Central.

The Milwaukee pitching staff has a 3.64 ERA, a 1.23 WHIP, and a .237 opponent batting average. The Brewers’ offense has scored 660 runs with a .254 batting average and a .333 on base percentage. Willy Adames is batting .254 with 26 home runs and 92 RBI’s for the Brewers this season.

Starting Pitchers

The projected starting pitcher for Cincinnati is Fernando Cruz, who is 3-8 with a 5.17 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP over 55.2 innings pitched this year. Cruz has allowed two earned runs in his last four outings (6.1 IP) and shouldn’t be expected to go more than a couple of innings. The projected starting pitcher for Milwaukee is Frankie Montas, who is 6-9 with a 4.64 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP over 120.1 innings pitched this season. Montas has allowed zero earned runs in two of his last three starts but did allow four earned runs last time out against Oakland.

Cincinnati Reds vs Milwaukee Brewers Prediction

Milwaukee was able to get the narrow win in game one of the doubleheader on Friday and they blew the Reds out of the water in game two. Milwaukee continues to dominate the NL Central and they have one of the best records in baseball. The Brewers are 39-31 on the road, while the Reds are 32-38 at home. I am not entirely sure what Cincinnati is going to do with their pitching plan, but it sounds like it is going to be a bullpen game. The Brewers are going with Montas on the mound, who has had an up and down year. The inconsistency of Montas is definitely a concern, but I will stick with the red hot Brewers. Take Milwaukee here.
