In this article we will formulate a Cincinnati Reds vs Philadelphia Phillies prediction for this MLB game on Tuesday, April 23rd at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, Ohio. Let’s take a look at the prediction for game two in this series.

Reds Preview

The Cincinnati Reds are 12-10 this season and they have won three of their last four games. Cincinnati lost game one of this series on Monday, but they did sweep the Angels over the weekend by scores of 3-0, 7-5, and 7-1. Prior to that sweep, the Reds got swept on the road in Seattle and were out scored 17-5. The Cincinnati pitching staff has a 4.02 ERA, a 1.28 WHIP, and a .232 opponent batting average. The Reds offense has scored 112 runs with a .219 batting average and a .304 on base percentage. Spencer Steer is batting .295 with three home runs and 18 RBI’s for the Reds. The projected starting pitcher for Cincinnati is Andrew Abbott, who is 1-2 with a 2.70 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP over 23.1 innings pitched this season.

Phillies Preview

The Philadelphia Phillies are 15-8 this year and they have won seven games in a row. Philadelphia was able to get the win in game one of this series by a score of 7-0 and they have scored at least seven runs in five straight games. Prior to this series, the Phillies swept the White Sox and the Rockies, out scoring them 38-14 in the process. The Philadelphia pitching staff has a 3.29 ERA, a 1.13 WHIP, and a .214 opponent batting average. The Phillies offense has scored 103 runs with a .247 batting average and a .318 on base percentage. Alec Bohm is batting .295 with three home runs and 18 RBI’s for the Phillies. Cincinnati Reds vs Philadelphia Phillies Prediction

The Phillies come into this matchup playing fantastic baseball and they are looking for their eighth win in a row. Philadelphia has been ripping the cover off of the ball in recent games, scoring at least seven runs in five straight. Cincinnati is 12-10 on the season and they were able to sweep the Angels in the previous series, but we have seen their offense go through some rough patches. The Reds are starting Andrew Abbott, who has allowed two earned runs or fewer in four straight starts, while only allowing eight hits in his last 13.0 innings of work. The Phillies are going with Cristopher Sanchez, who has allowed two earned runs or fewer in all four starts this season. Sanchez has been dominant in his last two starts against Pittsburgh and Colorado, allowing two earned runs and 10 hits over 12.0 innings. I know Abbott has been great for the Reds this season, but I can’t pass up the Phillies at a decent price right now. Take Philadelphia here.
