In this article we will formulate a Cleveland Guardians vs Seattle Mariners prediction for this MLB game on Thursday, June 20th at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio. Let’s take a look at the prediction for game three in the series.

Guardians are Leading the AL Central

The Cleveland Guardians are 45-26 this year and they have lost three of their last four games. Cleveland lost game one in this series, but they won game two by a score of 8-0 on Wednesday. Prior to this series, the Guardians lost two out of three against the Blue Jays, split two games with the Reds, and won two out of three against the Marlins. Cleveland is 5-6 in their last 11 games, but they still have a five game lead in the AL Central.

The Cleveland pitching staff has a 3.50 ERA, a 1.18 WHIP, and a .228 opponent batting average. The Guardians offense has scored 354 runs with a .243 batting average and a .319 on base percentage. Jose Ramirez is batting .275 with 18 home runs and 64 RBI’s for the Guardians this season. Cleveland is seventh in the MLB in runs scored this year and they have scored 19 runs in their last three games.

Mariners Looking for Third Straight Series Win

The Seattle Mariners are 44-32 this season and they have won four of their last five games. Seattle won game one on Tuesday by a score of 8-5, but they were shutout in the game two loss. Prior to this series, the Mariners swept the Rangers in three games, won three out of four against the White Sox, and lost two out of three against the Royals. Seattle is 8-2 in their last ten games and they are leading the AL West over the Astros and Rangers.

The Seattle pitching staff has a 3.50 ERA, a 1.07 WHIP, and a .217 opponent batting average. The Mariners offense has scored 296 runs with a .220 batting average and a .300 on base percentage. Julio Rodriguez is batting .264 with seven home runs and 29 RBI’s for the Mariners this season. Seattle is sixth in the MLB in team ERA this year, but they have allowed at least five runs in three of their last four games.

Starting Pitchers

The projected starting pitcher for Cleveland is Logan Allen, who is 7-3 with a 5.30 ERA and a 1.49 WHIP over 69.2 innings pitched this year. Allen has allowed two earned runs in three of his last five starts, but did allow 10 earned runs and 13 hits in the other two outings in that span. The projected starting pitcher for Seattle is Luis Castillo, who is 6-7 with a 3.32 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP over 89.1 innings pitched this season. Castillo has allowed two earned runs or fewer in four of his last five starts, but did allow five earned runs against the Royals two starts ago.

Why the Seattle Mariners will win

  • The Mariners have won each of their last 12 Thursday day games as road favorites against American League opponents.
  • The Guardians have lost each of their last seven Thursday games against AL West opponents that held a winning record.
  • The Guardians have failed to cover the run line in each of their last seven home games against the Mariners following a win.
  • The Mariners have covered the run line in each of their last six day games against the Guardians at Progressive Field following a loss.
  • The Guardians have trailed after 5 innings in each of their last seven Thursday games against AL West opponents that held a winning record.

Total Runs Facts

  • Each of the Mariners’ last eight road games against AL Central opponents have gone OVER the total runs line.
  • Five of the last six games between the Mariners and Guardians have gone OVER the total runs line.
  • The ‘Inning 1 OVER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the last five day games between the Mariners and Guardians.
  • The ‘Inning 1 UNDER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Mariners’ last four games as favorites against AL Central opponents.

Cleveland Guardians vs Seattle Mariners Prediction

Both of these teams have played extremely well to start this season and they both have comfortable leads in their divisions. Cleveland is 22-9 at home, while Seattle is 17-20 on the road. The Guardians have been great with their pitching and hitting this year, but they are starting Logan Allen, who has been very inconsistent. Similarly to Cleveland, Seattle has had outstanding pitching, but their hitting is in the bottom third in the MLB for runs scored. I do think Seattle will be able to generate offense against Allen, while I expect Luis Castillo to continue his hot streak. My Cleveland Guardians vs Seattle Mariners prediction is for the Mariners to win.
