The Los Angeles Angels and the Cleveland Guardians meet Sunday in MLB action from Progressive Field. This will be the finale in a three-game series. The Angels eked out a win in the opener, then on Saturday the Guardians evened it up with a two-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Los Angeles Angels

The Angels mustered two runs in the ninth inning Friday during the opener, powering out a comeback win 5-4. On Saturday Los Angeles blew a 6-2 lead and ultimately fell 8-6. Starter Reid Detmers posted 5.0 innings, two earned, six hits and two walks.

For the Sunday starter job, it’ll be the Angels’ Patrick Sandoval. In his seven starts so far Sandoval is 3-1 with a 3.41 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 37.0 innings. Sandoval is 13-25 with a 3.67 ERA in 70 games (63 starts).

Cleveland Guardians

Over on the Cleveland side, they notched 11 team hits (while giving up 12) in the Friday game one loss. On Saturday the Guardians posted six runs in the eighth inning on the way to 12 team hits. Cal Quantrill finished on 6.0 innings, three earned, six hits and three walks.

Tanner Bibee will make the start for the Guardians on Sunday. Over his three starts so far Bibee is 1-1 with a 4.30 ERA and 15 strikeouts over 14.2 total innings.

The Angels are 8-3 in their last 11 versus a right-handed starter and the over is 4-1-1 in their last six versus a starter with a WHIP over 1.30.

Meanwhile, the Guardians are 15-5 in their last 20 in game three of a series and 12-5 in their last 17 versus the AL West. The over is 5-1-2 in Cleveland’s last eight versus the AL West.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll try the Angels here. Sandoval will need a bit of a bounce-back outing, though. In his last start Sandoval put up four earned on seven hits in 6.1 innings versus Houston. That said, he’d been pitching well with three earned over his previous 12.0 innings. I think Sandoval will get back into the groove here. On Saturday the Angels had a pretty good thing going until the bottom of the eighth inning. I like LA to post a better effort in this one.
