The St. Louis Cardinals and the Milwaukee Brewers meet Friday in MLB action from American Family Field. St. Louis is coming off a series versus the Reds. The Cardinals won the first two games in that set before a Wednesday loss. As for the Brewers, they played the Giants in their last series. Milwaukee managed wins in the first three games, then on Thursday the Brewers fell by four runs. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

The Cardinals took wins over the Reds 3-1 on Monday and 5-4 in game one Wednesday before a 12-2 defeat in the finale. In the loss, St. Louis had just three hits. Starter JA Happ put up 1.0 inning with seven earned on eight hits and two walks in a very tough outing.

For the starter job in the Friday game, the Cardinals are sending out Adam Wainwright. Across his 169.2 innings this year Wainwright has 135 hits, 57 runs (56 earned), 17 homers allowed, 40 walks, 155 Ks and a 2.97 ERA.

Over on the Brewers’ side, they posted wins in their first three games versus the Giants 3-1, 6-2 and 5-2. In the Thursday finale, Milwaukee couldn’t get much offense going in a 5-1 defeat. The Brewers gave up four runs in the bottom of the eighth to essentially seal the game.

Starting pitcher for the Friday game will be the Brewers’ Freddy Peralta. In his 121.1 innings this year Peralta has 63 hits, 33 earned runs, 10 homers allowed, 51 walks, 164 Ks and a 2.45 ERA.

The Cardinals are 4-1 in their last five Friday games and 10-3 in their last 13 road games. St. Louis is 4-9 in their last 13 after an off day and 1-4 in their last five in game one of a series.

Meanwhile, the Brewers are 42-19 in their last 61 overall and 35-16 in their last 51 versus the NL Central. Milwaukee is 9-3 in their last 12 in game one of a series and the under is 3-1-1 in their last five Friday games.

PICK: I’m going to stick with the Cardinals in this one. Peralta has been a bit up-and-down over his last two starts, giving up five earned runs on two walks and 10 hits in his last 7.1 frames. As for Wainwright, he’s riding a 15.0-inning scoreless streak over his last two starts with just one walk, five hits and 14 strikeouts in that stretch. Wainwright has given up just two earned in his last four starts, and I like him to keep it going here.
