Over on the Brewers’ side, they took on the Kansas City Royals in their last set. Milwaukee was only able to win one of those games—6-5 on Tuesday. Otherwise the Brewers fell 3-2 in game one and 6-4 in the rubber match. In the Thursday game Milwaukee scored four in the first two innings and cruised from there. Rhys Hoskins (two RBI), Jake Bauers and Joey Ortiz each had a home run.

As starter for Friday’s matchup it’s looking like the Brewers will send out No. 5 prospect Robert Gasser. He joined the team on Thursday following a call-up. Gasser posted a 5.25 ERA with 17 Ks in 12 innings in Triple-A Nashville in three starts this season. The Brewers will face the Pirates following this series.

Cardinals catcher Wilson Contreras was placed on the 10-day Injured List Wednesday due to a fractured left forearm.

I’ll probably just stay with the Brewers here. Milwaukee had a great all-around game on Thursday. William Contreras and Christian Yelich combined for six hits, three runs and two RBI by themselves, and six different players bagged at least one hit. The bullpen was great as well on 5.0 innings, three hits, six Ks, no earned and no walks.

It’ll be interesting to see what Gasser can do. Another good offensive performance would really give him a cushion, though. St. Louis has given up four or more runs in five straight games, so the opportunities should be there.
