The St. Louis Cardinals and the Milwaukee Brewers meet Sunday in MLB action from American Family Field. Here’s a Milwaukee Brewers vs St. Louis Cardinals prediction. This will be the final installment in a four-game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the game.

St. Louis Cardinals Betting Preview

The Cardinals played a pair of games versus the New York Mets this week. St. Louis lost both of those matchups (with one rainout), falling 4-3 and 7-5. The Cardinals continued to falter with losses to the Brewers 7-1 and 11-2 in their first pair. On Saturday St. Louis dropped another one 5-3, notching 12 team hits along the way. Kyle Gibson managed 5.0 frames in the starting pitcher role with two earned runs on three hits and four walks.

In the starting pitcher slot for the Cardinals on Sunday it’ll be Miles Mikolas. This year Mikolas is 2-5 with a 6.43 ERA in eight starts. He’s got 32 Ks in 42.0 innings total. Mikolas is 56-58 with a 4.04 ERA in 186 career games (158 starts).

Milwaukee Brewers Betting Preview

Over on the Brewers’ side, they played the Kansas City Royals this week. Milwaukee managed a 6-5 win in the Tuesday game but otherwise lost 3-2 Monday and 6-4 Wednesday to drop the series. On Saturday the Brewers put up three runs in the seventh inning alone. Freddy Peralta went 6.0 innings with three earned runs on eight hits and one walk as starter.

As starter on Sunday it’ll be Bryse Wilson for the Brewers. So far this year Wilson is 2-1 with a 2.40 ERA in 10 games (four starts). He’s managed 27 Ks in 30.0 innings. Wilson is 17-18 with a 4.59 ERA in 119 games (47 starts).

Cardinals vs Brewers Injury Notes

Cardinals RP Keynan Middleton (forearm) is set for a rehab assignment in the coming week. SP Steven Matz (back) played catch off the mound on Friday.

Brewers RP Devin Williams (back) is scheduled to begin playing catch within the next two weeks. RP JB Bukauskas (60-day IL) has been diagnosed with a right triceps strain.

Why the Milwaukee Brewers will win

  • The Brewers have won each of their last 10 games against National League opponents that held a losing record.
  • The Cardinals have lost each of their last eight games after playing the previous day.
  • The Brewers have covered the run line each of their last eight day games against teams that held a losing record.
  • The Cardinals have failed to cover the run line in each of their last eight games after playing the previous day.
  • The Brewers have led after 5 innings in each of their last six day games against the Cardinals at American Family Field.
  • The Cardinals have trailed after 3 innings in each of their last three day games.

Why the St. Louis Cardinals will win

  • The Brewers have lost four of their last five day games after playing the previous day.
  • The Cardinals have covered the run line in seven of their last eight day games against the Brewers at American Family Field following a loss.
  • The Brewers have failed to cover the run line in five of their last six day games against the Cardinals at American Family Field following a home win.

Milwaukee Brewers vs St. Louis Cardinals Prediction

I’ll probably just stay with Milwaukee. Wilson has pitched well lately and should keep that going. Following a spotty 4.1 innings with two earned on April 24 versus the Pirates, Wilson has notched just one earned run on five combined hits and five walks in 12.0 innings since. He’s still 0-1 during that time, though.

On Saturday the Brewers had one big inning spurred by Rhys Hoskins’ home run. Nobody got more than one hit, and it was a pretty fortunate win all things considered. That said, St. Louis can’t buy a victory these days so Milwaukee seems to have the advantage.
