The Pittsburgh Pirates and the Baltimore Orioles meet in MLB action from Camden Yards on Friday. Let’s dive into the odds, starting pitching matchup, history and make a prediction for this game.

Odds

Baltimore is listed as a -155 home favorite while Pittsburgh is a +135 road underdog. The total for this game is set at 8.5 runs.

Starting Pitching Matchup

Johan Oviedo will start here for Pittsburgh and is 2-3 with a 5.59 ERA and 33 strikeouts this season. Kyle Bradish will start for the Orioles and is 1-1 with 5.95 ERA and 18 strikeouts this season.

Matchup History

Pittsburgh’s 8-1 win back on August 7th, 2022, snapped Baltimore’s two-game head-to-head win streak in this matchup.

Trends

Pittsburgh is 70-147 in their last 217 road games and 23-56 in their last 79 interleague games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 series-opening games. Baltimore is 8-2 in their last 10 home games and 20-8 in their last 28 games overall while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games against a team with a winning record.

Pick

I think this game is all about the lesser of two evils, I trust Oviedo as a starter more than I do Bradish, but the thing for me is that the Pirates are in freefall right now after such a strong start to the season. The Orioles have had blips here and there, but for the most part, the O’s have been consistently solid from opening day onward and I think this is definitely a team to watch as we move into the middle of the season. Not a price I love to lay with Bradish, but there’s no backing the Pirates until they turn it around. Give me the O’s here.
