San Diego Padres Betting Preview

The San Diego Padres are 41-35 this season after they split the first two games in this series by scores of 5-6 and 5-1. In their game two win, San Diego was tied at one in the third inning, but they took the lead in the bottom of the inning and never gave it up. The Padres recorded eight hits in the game and they were led by Tatis Jr., who went 1-3 with one home run and three RBIs in the win. San Diego started Cease, who allowed three hits and one earned run over 6.2 innings for the win, while Estrada and Morejon closed out the win.

Prior to this series, the Padres lost three out of four against the Dodgers and two out of three against the Diamondbacks. San Diego has lost four of their last six games and they are currently third in the NL West standings. The San Diego pitching staff has a 3.60 ERA with a 1.22 WHIP and a .227 opponent batting average, while their offense has scored 322 runs with a .250 batting average and a .317 on base percentage this season. Fernando Tatis has led San Diego with 14 home runs and 34 RBIs, while Gavin Sheets has added 12 home runs and 45 RBIs this year. The projected starting pitcher for San Diego is Randy Vasquez, who is 3-4 with a 3.70 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP over 73.0 innings pitched this season.

Kansas City Royals Betting Preview

The Kansas City Royals are 38-39 this year after they lost game two by a score of 5-1 on Saturday night. Kansas City tied the game at one in the third inning, but they went scoreless over the last six innings for the loss. The Royals recorded four hits in the game and they were led by Rave, who went 1-3 with one RBI in the loss. KC started Cameron, who allowed five hits and two earned runs over 5.1 innings for the loss, while Clarke allowed three earned runs in relief.

Prior to this series, the Royals swept the Rangers in three games, but lost all three against the Athletics before that. Kansas City has won four of their last five games and they are currently third in the AL Central standings. The Kansas City pitching staff has a 3.41 ERA with a 1.21 WHIP and a .235 opponent batting average, while the offense has scored 260 runs with a .247 batting average and a .301 on base percentage this season. Vinnie Pasquantino has led KC with 11 home runs and 41 RBIs, while Bobby Witt has added 10 home runs and 40 RBIs this year. The projected starting pitcher for Kansas City is Seth Lugo, who is 4-5 with a 3.05 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP over 76.2 innings pitched this year.

Padres vs Royals Prediction

Kansas City had their winning streak snapped on Saturday night in their game two loss, but they have scored at least six runs in three of their last five games. The Royals are 19-20 on the road this year, while the Padres are 22-13 at home. San Diego has struggled in their last three series, so getting a series win here would be huge. The Padres are starting Vasquez, who has allowed 3, 1, 0, and 4 earned runs in his last four starts. The Royals are going with Lugo, who has allowed two earned runs or fewer in three straight. I do think Lugo is the better starter in this matchup, but I still don’t believe in this KC offense. Take the Padres at home.
