The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Philadelphia Phillies meet Tuesday in MLB action from Citizens Bank Park. This will be the second installment in a three-game set this week. Arizona Diamondbacks

The Diamondbacks took on the Pirates over the weekend, winning two of three games. On Monday versus Philly, Arizona scored three in the second inning on the way to a 6-3 victory. Starter Tommy Henry lasted 5.2 innings with two earned on four hits and two walks.

Ryne Nelson will take the mound for the start on Tuesday. Across his nine starts so far Nelson is 1-2 with a 5.48 ERA and 32 Ks in 46.0 innings. In his career Nelson is 2-3 with a 4.34 ERA in 12 starts.

Philadelphia Phillies

Over on the Philadelphia side, they lost to the Cubs Friday but came back for wins in the other pair this weekend. On Monday the Phillies were out-hit 10-6 in the loss. Zack Wheeler lasted 6.0 innings with three earned, eight hits and a walk as starter.

For the starter gig in the Tuesday matchup, Philadelphia will go with Dylan Covey. In his lone appearance this year Covey went 4.0 innings with five hits and two earned. Covey is 6-29 with a 6.54 ERA in 72 career games (45 starts).

I’ll probably try the Diamondbacks in this one. Nelson had a bit of a shaky start versus the Giants on May 12 (4.2 innings; four earned) but he’s been great in two of his last three. In that pair Nelson put up just two combined earned in 10.1 innings on eight hits and five walks. In the Monday opener of this series Arizona had a pretty nice all-around performance on both sides of the ball.  The bullpen combined for 3.1 innings, one earned, two hits, three walks and seven Ks. I like the Diamondbacks to keep it going in game two.
